Also, World Ends With You is a fun game, and the company's other game, AAAAAH - disregard for gravity, is another good game.

Yeah, Neku is a bit of a prick during the first Act. Thankfully it only really lasts for the first Act, and after that he'll be a bit more tolerable.

Heck, I'd even say he turns around a bit by the 6th day or so of the first week.

I liked Neku better at the beginning of TWEWY because I related to him more. The fact that he goes through a POWER OF FRIENDSHIP story kind of bugged me, actually.

Well Touhou isn't technically single gender. We have a cloud that punches you, a turtle you ride on (early 90s games) and a dude who never actually appears ingame. Although no-one really cares.

Just stick with TWEWY. I found Neku fairly insufferable too. He improves with time. The story is basically a classic "growing up story", only in this case the main character isn't just immature and grumpy, they're borderline sociopathic.

Neku starts out Lord Douche for the first week.
(ZOMG! Spoilers, more than 7 days!)

But yeah, it gets better in all aspects by the second week. (Though the first day is -always- bloody 10-4...)

Really, give Neku some time. He really stops wearing on you after a while. and the game just gets better as you go. Everything gets better in design, bosses are quite fun, music is great, IMO one of the best games on the DS.
In case you aren't already scaling you level down to 1, you should.
