For those of you that think -15% explosives resistance isn't much, that's the difference between a 15 damage shot, and a 42 damage shot, in some cases.
Just throwing my $0.02 out there.

Personally, I think that the solider is the OP one and needs to be nerfed. Unless that was the joke or something.

@Wierdsnake: Correct, it was not OP. You lost your best tool for it. Also, as stated, it could be dodged easily

They gave the Targelander the wrong nerf. Rather then mitigating what he's good at (screwing with the explosive classes) they should have increased the damage Targe-wielding demomen take from boolets. Make the Scout and the Heavy more real counters then they were to the normal Demoman.

They only reduced the defense by what...15%? It still reduces explosive damage by HALF.

So I am glad the targe got a small nerf. What I do not understand is why the buff banner was in essence, buffed. +40% charging speed means the damage was lowered from 850, to 510. While it may have lost 4 seconds in duration, that is very small considering the buff banner will now be spammable,

As then the targepipe demos would counter the majority of the enemy team, where it took 6-8 rockets to kill 1 targe demo, but only 2 pipes from them, and they can just hang back and nade you, to keep out of shotgun range. Since nades do not suffer from damage fall-off.

The targe was imbalanced in the sense of the last kind of imbalanced, the weapon invalidated unlocks like the gunboats, buff banner, and flare gun. While directly hardcountering the normal demo. The result ended in that the only demos you see normally, were targe demos who have figured out the pipes

The last kind of imbalance, and the only one that is actually possible in TF2, diminishes a class's presence when another class obsoletes it, either by being too hard a counter or being too good at what the other class is generally used for. According to the stats page, no class has ever come close.
Another kind of imbalance is the speed at which a class is capable of turning the tide of battle. Since all classes but the medic can do a lot of damage very quickly and the medic is integral to any team, this possibility is also ruled out since it's in the game's nature.
It takes a real degenerate to believe any class is even borderline OP in Team Fortress 2. First off, no class can be game-breakingly overpowered unless it gives one team an unfair advantage. Thus, this type of imbalance is impossible because both teams have access to the same number of all classes.

Demoman has *never* been OP, despite all the times he's been hit by the nerf bat. It's just a class with a high learning curve to be any good, so most people don't play it enough to really learn its weaknesses and counters.
And instead of taking the time to learn, they just cry about it.

i mean seriously, just juggle the chargin demo, airblast and/or side step
to many noob doesnt know how to learn and/or adapt to new weaponry

I agree with gelugon2105 about the lag compensation. This would also bring down those uber-ping snipers. Any time I see a sniper with a ping lower then mine I know I'm going to get shot... in the head... regardless of the odd maneuvers I make.

Before the update, people whined about nade spam.
After the update, it was the targe. Next week, it'll be more spam with the Scot Res. People, learn to accept you just don't know how to kill demos. It's not that the Demoman is OP, it's just that you have yet to adapt to the new weapons.

I personally think the targe was fine the way it was but if you think about it, the nerf barely did anything at all. The targe demoman is now weaker against soldiers and other demomen as well as the rockets on a level 3 sentry but it changed nothing else.

I wonder how Valve wrote the code to nerf the Direct Hit's mini-critting properties. It does now reward people who know how to juggle well or work with other Soldiers and - of course - Demomen. But, looking at the update page again, the nerf would seem to detract from the theme of the weapon.

But really it ended up being very effective against Demomen who were caught flat-footed with the Grenade Launcher still equipped (which would otherwise gib the charging Demoman if not for the damage resistance) and more importantly, Soldiers with Direct Hits.

The nerf to the Targe in the latest update appears to be a reduction to explosive resistance, down from the initial 75%. The initial value was intended to protect the Demoman from other Demomen with actual sticky launchers and Soldiers with normal Rocket Launchers.

Stepping to the side may not necessarily work against a charging Demoman whose ping is substantially different from his victim's. What needs to be fixed is the game's lag compensation feature, not the stats of the weapons.
By the way, the Soldiers got nerfed too in that same update.

why do people think the Targe is overpowered? Here's whatcha do. When you see a targe demo, and he's comin for you:

@Anonymouss
Except for the fact that it was supposed to be used for air juggling, not reward you for shooting people who were jumping.

@4thWarmasterKais
It was nerfed. It now won't crit someone unless you throw them into the air via an explosion. While it wasn't that bad, it still is a nerf. 7 months ago
Buff Banner wasn't nerfed. It might only last 10 seconds now, but the meter fills 40% faster. And supply locker doesn't reset it.

If you ask me, the DH is a bit overpowered and only seems like an upgrade for the rocket launcher. Why didnt they nerf that? The Buff banner didn't seem to be that big a problem. ¬.¬

seriously people DH nerfed?
it is working as its supposed to work its not a nerf its a fix get your facts straight 7 months ago
DH was kind of nerfed too, really. Scouts (who spend more than half the time in mid-air) or others that happen to jump or drop off a higher ground always get mini-critted. Now you can only get mini-crit if you know how to juggle.
Sarge the Heavy

I was kind of expecting it to be nerfed down to 50% any way. The soldier also got his share of nerfing when it came to the buff banner. It only lasts 10 seconds now opposed to 14.

Pyros do a pretty good job at beating it. Just don't use the backburner, but that weapon sucks anyway

@Alphahawk: That'd be better for Medics. Executioner's hood would make more sense for the pyro thanks to his affinity for axes. Of course, it should still be distorted from the gas mask under the hood.
