When I see WoW now, I picture a bloodied soldier, extending his arm to a scared player and screaming "NO NOOB LEFT BEHIND".
There is a good purpose in making raids easier because this takes a good deal of the hassle out of doing them. No need for scheduling and guild drama, you just log on, use the Looking for Raid tool and you manage your mailbox or tab away until the raid starts. With the easier difficulty available, even a group of brave people with minimal organization can perhaps win.
However, in the same way dungeons are more akin to a leisurely stroll instead of a dangerous adventure, I fear raids will soon turn into the same. Even then, there will still be players out there who think it's is too hard. This won't change the perception raids are not really epic anymore. Soon, purple will be the new blue.
