Riot's people are laughing right now if only to help cope with their own despair. I mean think about it, if RIOT ever forgot an event or delayed a champion, oh man the League community would do much worse things then deface a wiki or screw up player stats.

Engie looks like she's really falling for Jo. I hope those two fall in love. That'd be sweet.

Everyone now knows what Dota is. Obama, Putin, several other presidents/prime ministers, news channels, Volvo for sure knows... So nah, I don't think guys at Riot are really laughing, with their main competition getting A LOT of publicity.
@A Bot Named You: Still not an excuse for them to go out of the gaming sites/forums and doing imbecilic stuff. Seriously this is embarrassing to the gaming community as a whole.

@A Bot Named You: The problem with that logic is that Valve is ALWAYS delaying content, with or without an excuse. Hence - Valve Time.
I think the main problem is because as Jo said, people complained it delayed new content. This year, new content is being delayed, and we're not even getting an event. So Valve isn't releasing anything, and there's no consolation
Okay... this is getting REALLY pathetic now. This spamming/trolling/whining needs to stop. I didn't mind the idiotic "Region lock!" spam or any similar, but for the first time I feel embarrassed to be part of the same community as these annoying Diretide spamming sh*theads.
@Marabunta: She's the Pyro's girlfriend, obviously.
There are multiple Engies running around - heck, there was that whole 'I'm quitting the game to become a spectator' thing with the one in this comic.

Wasn't there a orange long haired girl the protagonist?
@D.D.Mining Co: So? Just don't get the damn hat! What a nitpicky bigoted people. Reminds me when some racists whining when a cereal company use an interracial couple in their ad.
@a big fag: Ignorant uninformed racist spotted, seriously angry douchebags like you is the one who tarred the video game community. Just wait until Fox News pick up on this and all effort to prove that video game is a maturing media will shot back 10 years backward. Thanks a lot fuckwad.
@Synchrotron: The company doesn't need to announce "No Diretide" statement. When they are in silent there's always possibility it will not happened. It's your own fucking fault for hyping Diretide like that. Stupid fanbase.
I've always held the position that Valve does whatever it does simply because it feels like it, not out of some kind of love or devotion to the fanbase. It hardly matters because Steam is a money-printing machine no matter what, and top talent is guaranteed because everyone wants to work at Valve.
Valve's fanbase is awful anyways, it surprises me that Gabe's still keeping it cool towards gamers, i would have called quits long ago.
-Tons of jokes on Newell's appearence
-Excessive HL whining
-That L4D3 leak
and now this...
@Drakedog: Is he a Valve knight for having a logical opinion? I think not.
Personally, I was bummed to miss the event, as I didn't get to do it last year. However, I was annoyed at the so called 'fans' who acted like babies throwing temper tantrums.
Meanwhile, some of the TF2 community is whining because, among the 40 new hats that were added, ONE of them give subtle nods to MLP.
I guess the lesson to this is that Gamers are crybabies, however for me the reminder wasn't necessary, alas.

@dealwithit Well, it was no secret that the community blows.
I for my part had a hearthy laugh about the ridiculousness of the situation. It's like something a good comedy flick would come up with.
It has escalated a bit too much tho.

Every other company of this nature keeps a minimum standard of communication with their customers instead of blatantly shitting on them and disrespecting them. Go fuck yourself Jo, you stupid fucking mexican.

@dealwithit: The fact that i have to agree with you makes me sad.
@daretobecupid: Yes, this is getting out of hand and the number of manchilds who pointlessly raging is too high.
You know what best? Lord Gaben himself appeared on a video condemning the action of those assholes then declared that he's going to pull the plug off the DOTA2 servers. Or better....
O my fk god. This is the best comment to this situation I've seen so far. Last two scenes say every bloody thing people should finally realize. And the way you've drawn makes it so...beatuyful.
Its gone too far seriously. And that stuff with cyborgmatt is utter bs. Valve should atleast tell us something but threatening matt spammin Obama site and flooding metacritic is just stupid.
Is this how bad things have become? That people are agreeing with dealwithit?

@PAK215: I know, but all this hype started before October 30 and Valve knew that everyone was expecting Diretide since they told us it was an yearly event. They had a lot of time to release an announcement before things escalated 10% of what it did.
Stupid fanbase + lazy developers = failure.

Y'know the Jinx offer still stands, bud. Just send me an e-mail or something if'n you decide to take me up on it.
@Synchrotron: At this point, they'd be giving into terrorist demands simply by mentioning it. That's the problem with rioting mobs.
I am upset about this as well with no diretide but harassing? Threatening? A person? Come on people...

While retards escalated things a lot, I was one that just kept the flaming on r/dota2 because taking it elsewhere is stup. Lets just not forget that Valve is indeed crapping on their fanbase and any non crappy company in the same situation would release a statement with just 2 words: No Diretide.
yeah this time I agree with dealwithit.
I knew most of the players were childish but I never really thought they'd be this childish. sigh, valve didnt really promise the event will come back, its all the people themselves hyping it.

@Krokar: The d2ware version crashes nonstop, and it's been nearly impossible to actually get a party together to play it. It's a nice attempt, but it's still not a great solution.
...I actually liked DireTide. It was a lot of fun if you play with 5 friends. You pick some of the worst Line-up heroes, and just play randomly, doing crazy stuff that makes no sense at all. And then Right-click and Dagon the Roshan-Boss for free loot. That last part wasn't that fun, but hey. Fun.
Engie's face in the 3rd panel is fucking killing me XD

@bodmans: The Dota 2 community still isn't accustomed with Valve time as much as the TF2 community. There has been 4 months since the last hero was add to the game, so people thought may they were preparing something nice to Halloween. It turns out they haven't, they just gave up on this game.
I don't think I'm the only one who's actually HAPPY that Diretide isn't a thing this year (at least not yet). It was incredibly unbalanced and stopped being fun the moment people realized that. I only played it because of the item drops, and I'm glad they won't be flooding the market now.
Valve has always been like this. Everytime they actually communicated with the community, it was disappointing since they didn't stand to their words. It's sad and it's maddening. Sometimes I wish we had some sort of communit manager at Valve, but they don't care.
Also I think people need to hold their Valve and Steam fanboyism a little bit. I need to remind you guys that Steam is still a DRM no matter what and Valve, even with its good track record is also well known for taking too long to finish their games. I know quantity>quality. But it's not an excuse..
