@Random Dude: Well, if he's gotten it at the five minute mark, then he was crazy efficient farming, and if he needed the gold he would've spent 1.9k gold on something more reliable. He clearly is going for an EXP advantage, probably an invoker rolling carry or something, but clearly bodes poorly.

@Rice: Actually 190 gold. Again, Midas effectiveness depends on how devoted you are at farming and compared to Tread less useful for aiding teamfights.

@Marabunta: Except for the meta stuff, nooope.
@Rice: Actually 190 gold. Again, you now farm faster, but also lacking in term of stats (except AS, which as i pointed out b4 its a big deal for some). Theoretically, its more useful for safe farming, less for aiding teamfight.
@Random Dude: 1900 might seem to be a huge amount of gold for nothing, but like i said, compare it when you have power treads and 500 gold and hand of midas. which do you think will help you farm faster from this point onwards.
midas is instant, which means no longer need to hit enemies.

@Random Dude: cause LoL is what DotA2 never tried to be: repetitive, boring, forced metagame and grinding heroes.
cause with midas, you now have money to buy wards WHILE being able to buy other stuff that you wouldnt have been able to.
only reason its not gotten, is cause another utility item could have been bought instead like mek or force. however if your team can manage without those, then go for it.
thus for item dependent(carry) heroes, midas can be a pickup in order to get the strong items faster. exp is a small bonus.
and for level dependent (supports), midas can be a pickup to gain higher levels for your skills to really hit hard. on the flipside though, money is a big bonus for them.
cont.
because of those 2 things it does(190 gold and 1.5 exp), you end up having two routes to go:
either use the active on normal/small creeps to gain more gold thus getting lategame items at an earlier date.
or use it on the largest creep to gain the most exp and thus higher levels.
@Dedic
actually it pays itself by 8 minutes, after that its going to really help you gain a good lead.
in fact, midas is actually viable on every hero heck even supports. the fact that midas has 2 things it gives is what makes it viable on supports, just look at some pro games.

if you talking about harassing in lane, everyone already did that since 6 years ago in WC3 dota.
Denying also count as harassing enemy exp.
@Zeb
except that you know, you can do the same in dota 2. the carry and/or his support can still harass the enemy to either kill them or scare them away.
blackAngel: Actually, it's like showing off a gold medal in a team swimming match as opposed to a basketball match. DOTA supremacists are for lulz.

There's nobody to compete in LoL, since the enemy can't deny the creeps. Talking about CS in LoL is like showing off your gold medal in a race where you were the only contestant.
Midas isn't really good for farming, it only works every about 75? seconds and costs 1400, so it only pays for itself 10 minutes in, so your not getting as many good items early in the game, the reason you get it for carries is because of its other ability, the destroyed creep gives 2.5 times mo xp.
@bodmans:faceless void(guy in suit) is a carry which needs items to be effective.
five minutes into the game, he has power treads which costs 1400(2x 450+500). hand of midas on the other hand costs 1900(500+1400).
That 500 gold difference doesn't seem to be that bad, however, hand of midas is an
cont. item which can transmute any creep for 190 gold every xx seconds. each lane creep is around 40-49 gold and neutral creeps vary but only ancient creeps gives the same amount of gold when killed. and transmute is instant.
so in short Hand of Midas is an item which can speed up your farming

@bodmans Hand of midas is a item that costs 1900 gold which is fair bit of cash for 5 minutes. also helps you get a ton of cash. Therefore Mister purple-noface is gonna having a difficult match.
Rest of comic is just him comparing Being dota to a 9-5 job.
I guess that is the gist of it.
