You probably meant Pay-To-Not-Wait, Jo?

Didn't buy BF4, downloaded Dungeon Keeper just to downvote it.

@Platypus: This is apparently something that's going on in the Android market, where the rules are a little more lax.
Exactly that.

> Complain about EA games
> keep buying their games

Go on, customer. Go on... How about, you know... vote with your wallets for a change ? Stupid, stupid people. Also the voting argument is true. *facepalm*

>OMG Dungeonkeeper is so expensive and stupid!
>Buys 100$ worth of gems

Consumer logic.

This is for real? Holy shit. Not fuckin' okay.

Oh well. Last EA game I remember enjoying was NHL '98 for PC. Just thinking about how long ago that was is making me feel old.

I almost feel like reporting this App to Apple for violating their ToS and trying artificially manipulate their App Store ratings. Too bad Apple won't knee jerk reaction on developer the size of EA and pull down all their Apps like they would with smaller developers.

Since there are both a Theme Park and a Dungeon Keeper App, it's probably just a matter of time till they go for other IPs:
Theme Hospital, Theme Aquarium, heck they could do some odd Theme games with the same "Wait or pay" mechanics.
Theme Museum, Theme Hotel, Theme Zoo, Theme Webcomic and so on.

@Amplify: They pretty much killed that franchise for me. Nothing but the name and some basic game graphics and mechanics remain from the original. It is not as fun or engaging as the first and everything has a price. I refuse to spend 1 dime on that abortion of a game.

@Technature: As Kaguro Draven said after your post, there is still a DK to watch for, it's just not under the brand label... War for the Overworld, with our ever-faithful Mentor of Evil reprising his role, which he didn't do for DK Mobile... though they apparently got him for the Reaper there...

@Nathaniel Smith: I concur. There is nothing that can stand up to the quality DKII had (for its time ofc), especially if it's a piece of shit from EA. Although tWfO looks quite cool.
When people criticised the 'waiting' aspect of the game this is what EA said that we are just playing the game wrong... They published a Facebook game on mobile devices and expected people to play it like a Facebook game. So in truth they published their game wrong.

There are only two EA games that I like, and both are pretty much EA in name only.

Plants VS Zombies 2 (which is still more of a Popcap title) and The Secret World (which is run more by Funcom than EA and is one hell of an addictive MMO).

Pity DK turned out so bad or there might be three now.

What I think is truly is evil is how they just sat on this beloved IP for 15 years and when other devs start making Dungeon Keeper games they suddenly throw this piece of crap out on the app store. Seriously, screw EA.
Worry not My Friends. For DK2 has a TRUE sequel in the works, set to be released later this year. True it is not under the Dungeon Keeper name, but that is for mere copywrite reasons.
War For The Overworld.

If only the creativity they use to screw consumers were used on the quality of their games instead...

HOORAY, DK SEQUEL, AT LAST. THANK YOU, EA #happyface #eyesbleed

Congrats, EA... to date, you've saved me a at least an estimated $539.73 because I haven't bought games I would've like to play, because you are a good simulation Evil Incarnate.

Jokes on them. They didn't count my extraordinary slacker abilities. I can wait... for days...

Remember the times EA was a good company and had awesome games without billions of dlc?

Something That EA also recently did:
They removed all lawnmowers from PvZ, unless you pay for them individually every single time.
Core game mechanic? Sounds like something we can charge extra for.

There is a word for Keepers like you....

This sounds like something that would get them pulled from the App Store for guideline violations, right?
Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it. And apparently EA has forgotten what happened to Atari (and most of the industry) back in '83, when they took the attitude of 'I could package shit as a game and it will sell!'. And yes, an Atari exec at the time said that. Google it!

@Swagner: By that extension, apps/games without a rating prompt would never be rated, then? Because they're being given the runaround? That's just silly. People have always known how to rate these apps (they have to go through the app page, afterall), regardless of any popups.

A bit expensive for a free-to-play, isn't?

Even collectors edition can be cheaper than this game!

@Thireven: Except that people who would rate it poorly are given the run around so they don't bother. It's like claiming that it's "fair" for a politician to give bad directions to the polls to his opponent's supporters.

@Mech__Warrior: For all the good it does, what with all the money people keep throwing at them. For all the hate they get, they're succeeding by the one metric that counts. If half the people who "hate" EA would quit buying their stuff, then they'd change.
...so this is what the genie meant when he said I'd regret my wish of a new DK game...

And EA wonders why it's going to win the world's worst company award for the third year in a rown.

@Wut? This would make a funny invasion if a big group decided to raid the app store page and rate it with the lowest rate possible. But not me, too lazy for that.

Man, f*ck EA.
???
@Thireven: Except they can't. They can't just rate again, like you're suggesting. It seems like EA has incorporated a function to register a non-rating in the Android version, so that rating it 4 or below will simply be marked as a non-rating by the user in the Google Play Store.

@Thireven: And yet, most people won't do it unless there is a screen pop on their face. People are lazy and take the path of least resistance. The result of this shady tactic is obvious with the rank of the game on the store being far, far higher than the one on metacritic.

@NerfNow If they really want to rate it, they can still just as easily go to the play store and rate it themselves (like every other app on Android works)... There's no confusion there.
Everyone should go to the play or app store and rate the game. They can't stop you there.
Bill's Beard Talking Here

I'm pretty sure TB explained how shitty this "free to play" game is on one of the co-op podcast, and the fact that this game ruined the dungeon keeper franchise. If I were to choose between a game of dota2 with Russians for a month or playing this game, i'd choose to play dota2 with Russians.
@Thireven: Because people who wants to rank 1-4 stars will not pick the 5 star options, end up with only the 5 star votes being counted and anything else turning into "valuable feedback" on EA virtual trash bin.
Thireven
I fail to see the issue and don't even understand why people are bringing this up. You're given two options: 1-4 stars gets you an email form to provide feedback (fine, whatever), 5 stars gets you taken to the store page where you CAN SELECT 1-5 STARS (literally no difference anywhere).

Well, its been a while so if you excuse me, pals... FIRST!

Btw, it's EA, what else could you expect from them?
