Never realy understood the appeal of doing sports so hard and yet not even triing to go to the professional scene, I mean 2-3 hours of excercise a day with a neat weekly routine is the most your body actually needs.
Way too many people in the age range of 18-30 just wreck themselves pointlessly.
I don't like it 'cause I find it kind of boring.
I actually used to be okay on offense but pretty darn good on defense. I was forced to stop though due to unrelated issues involving my feet, ankles, and lower legs (growth plate inflammation in both heels due to calf pulling too early)
Well... That's not MY reason for disliking it. I'm a hell of a goalkeeper, but i just HATE it. My dad insisted that i played the damn thing. Luckily, later I was able to change to baketball, at least i had fun there.
I have a terrible aim so you could count in the fingers of one hand the number of goals I made in a year but thanks to my reasonably strong body I rarely get any injury, the same can't be said about the people around me. I was a tank football player with reflect damage.
Even tho I don't do sports I know that you mostly get injury from lack of stretching and warming up muscles. Basically inhale cigarette smoke and say ''hold my beer'' and goal.
Well, we had Mario Smash Football.
So why not dota?

I'd really recommend you to not watch the soccer cup. This money coulda been used for way better for better purpose, like in hospital and schools. For those who say its an investment, please note that almost no olympic games actually made a profit and i doubt this will be the case too.
@Max: This. Seriously, that referee bring disgrace toward football and Brazil will be laughed at. Fuck FIFA and their corrupt ways.
@Cookiemonsta: Martial artists retain less injuries because they are trained in such a way to strengthen their body. With football they trained more in speed, agility and shooting accuracy.
I dislike football because I see it as a boring sport. Also yeah, wish there's matchmaking system in my high school. I can't even remember which team I'm on. Also the fact we don't even wear colour specific costume.
Too bad the very first brazilian match was also Plagued with a VERY OBVIOUS referee bias toward brazil, according a penalty on nothing and not according a goal to croatia.
Brazil should've won this without a fluke, instead they struggled and now most of the world almost see them as cheaters. Damn.
@Cookiemonsta: Not that surprising. Just familar with Judo, but I think in most of the martial arts you learn very early how to avoid getting hurt/hurting yourself. In Limited-contact sports they don't spend to much time training such things afaik.

Jo, did you ever read Azumanga Daioh? Because Crystal Maiden looks a lot like Chiyo-chan about to get hit with a dodgeball.
@SoooWhoCares: so....causal football is american football?
where a skilled quarterback is enough to carry most teams , they give the noobs a break every 5 seconds to return to formation and recall what the tutorial said about tactics and added tons of shiny cutsceens .
hah! "Peg leg". Never thought about that expression in English. But yeah, I'm bad at sports too, so I'm not into any. And any sports means soccer in Brazil.

Jo, I'm spanish (the actual world champions by the way[Sorry, I couldn't miss the opportunity ;)]), so I know how you feel. Here soccer is almost a religion and people looks you weird if you're not gravitating to a team. Those who don't give a s**t or are neutral about that sport are VERY few.
Soccer - gaming industry style: Because the good players failed to learn to suck properly and casuals felt left behind we dumbed down the concept that much that skill doesn't really matter anymore. We also added achievements for basically everything and reworked the graphics.

Welp, I live(d) in Marseille, where everybody adores soccer too, so I gotta say, I know EXACTLY how you feel xD. Though I feel like personally, it wasn't just that I sucked at it (and I did), but also I got sick hearing about all the f***** time^^

I also played football a lot and got a permanent foot injury. I can run, walk normally but I will not be able to kick at even 50% of my strength anymore with my right leg
@Rethana: I have a great distate for pain. A big flaw on my sport career.

I have survived 12 years of sunday football without injuries. However, my friends have broken more bones than in a Mortal Kombat match

In fact football/basketball related, serious injuries are more common than injuries in marshal arts, despite the fact people there beat the crap out of each other.

My friend who plays Basketball has permanent knee and ankle injuries as well. Never got the appeal of having permanent injuries.
