@Andrew Hall: Ah, well, since Blitz is built more like Pudge that's who I thought of first. My point was that since DoTA and LoL are similar but work differently, the Heroes and Champions of both games work differently, too.
Of course, more people explained it better than my cop-out of an answer.
@Awesomknight: For what it's worth, I was thinking Thresh, not Blitz.
But yeah, I get it...no lantern save, heavy gold requirements...and of course it's DOTA in the first place anyway, where teamwork roles are for assholes generally. Okay, question answered.
Pudge is a terrible support because he can't do anything in lane to support a carry. Maybe being able to save a carry with a hook or initiate on a hero with a hook are just "Maybe" and it's his only nuke. Other heroes can serve similar purpose and do much much more.

pudge is fun to play i got 21 kills 4 deaths and 8 assists Match 869770297
@Andrew Hall: Pudge is a good mid since he can pull the other hero across the river with his hook and then chop them to pieces. He needs too much gold to be a true support, but I think having him lane with somebody like CM could work. (She freezes somebody in place, Pudge hooks them, they die.)
Here's what I don't get: since Pudge is a grabber/initiator, with that hook, why does he play mid instead of support? Wouldn't it make more sense for him to be in the easy lane with another player who can combo up his meathook with him?
For those who don't get it: A recent update to Dota 2 features an AI for the hero Pudge, allowing bots to play as Pudge in practice matches. Pudge is a hero that usually takes the mid lane. The new Pudge AI isn't all that good, and often dies to the opposing team.
@lightwood: In Dota you can play against other people, or against AI bots. The joke here is that they're trying to make the bot act as rude and selfish as the worst Dota players, and he's a failure because he's being nice instead.
@Calamity: I did better with him my first time than I expected. My advice is to keep it simple: just try to hook people who are standing still, or simply walk up to them and use Dismember without hooking if you can. (That said, he's still not somebody I pick often.)

@Calamity: nah same with me, i got 1,250 hours and I've only played Pudge twice, luckily in those 2 games the enemy abandoned. But if i ever get him in all random (game mode i only play) i quickly repack, same with mepoo.
