Techies' problem is, people hate him so much, find him so cheap, that they'll buy sentries and gems that otherwise they wouldn't. The 10-15 minutes you spend planting mines and being -1 in the game is easily countered.
Lucky you if you haven't run into more Techies. I've played against one that actually used him like he's supposed to. Counter-push and force late-game. Luckily, I was Legion Commander and was in a lane of feeders. Mwahaha. 300+ dmg points, that was a good day...

this is our beloved cancer body.
Edit: Google "Giff me diretide" since it doesnt show the propper characters
Just as expected really. Personally I'm waiting on the rest of the heroes, they look much more interesting and I like to play tank and support heroes (and tanky supports). So here's hoping that one of Underlord, Oracle, Wyvern or Warden gets released this year.
As it should be, techies is a niche hero that not every scrub can just pick up, play and win. The hero requires a lot more skill than others. Predicting where the enemy will push or be in a teamfight.
Pudge mid and mirana offlane? That's some old meta, now it's all about offlane void, mid dp and support skywrath.

... or he becomes a burden to your team. Seriously, either you wreck the roamers and get fat killing heroes or you kill your team.
First 2 days with techies were hilarious to watch in ranked. Every single team that had techies lost, 80% of the time.

People realized Techies need major skills to get results, and thus went to the "easy +25 mmr" heroes .
Yes, they need skill. Not only in mining around smartly, but in managing mana and most importantly MANAGING TIME. Techies is a very early game hero, he either shines on the first 12 minutes ...
They're not the best but I found them to work in great synergy with naga.
Song of the siren into stasis trap is a nice combo.
Still I only play AR so I didn't notice the state of picking.
This happens with every hero release. They're in like 100% of games for 3 days, then 80% for the next week, and finally falling to about 40% for the remainder of the 2 weeks. Then we're at where we are now...14%. Unless a hero is critical to the current meta, it falls off the radar.
At least now there are less players complaining when I pick them. Some understand the hero better and know they have as much potential as any other hero on the team, others just gave up whining every time.
I know it's just a comic, but, otherwise, it would sound quite preposterous of you to propagate that the community isn't paying proper respect for Techies.
What Dota players want is all the heroes released as soon as possible. Valve made it possible to port one hero per week before, but now...
I like Techies, it's just satisfying when you can stack about 6 Remote Mines in one spot and get an instant Ultrakill from time to time.
I'd play Techies more if I wasn't going through the All-Hero Challenge and using "Pure Skill" on Ogre Magi. Explosives are fun, but "Pure Skill" is even more.
@BowlerHatMan: quite certain yes, the ads asked me to disable, so i did, i inmediatly regreted the decition and felt sorry for jo, but is just too much. ads that auto do things are not welcomed. if is just there, ok. but playing music and popping i hate those
I don't have anything to say about this comic. Just wanted to say that I've had NerfNow.com whitelisted in my adblock plugin for quite some time now, but I've had to re-enable the plugin here when some ads started with autoplaying music.
