@Kenpachi RAMASAMA: He actually couldn't have kept on being charming and deceptive. The kiss moment was right there, she was pushing it, and if he kissed her and it didn't work then the deception was over anyway, clear to her that he wasn't her true love.
@Kenpachi RAMASAMA: I think it's because he's supposed to be a Disney villain, it's not supposed to be the best thought-out plan. It shows how he's the opposite of his facade, how he's not really caring at all. Besides, it's plot exposition, how else are you supposed to explain the plot twist?
@Kenpachi: I think it's a bit unfair to bring that he "only locks the door" because it's not like she picks the lock or knocks the door down. A friendly snowman named Olaf just happened to find and save her. I mean yeah he could have played it safer, but at that point it was checkmate for him.
@Bryce Adams: That actually could've worked really well. Hans vs. Marshmallow was really awesome and it would have been funny to have the final scene post-time-skip show Hans and Kristoff competing for Anna's attention.
@Jstar300: He messes up when he learns that Anna is dying and opts to just start hamming it up and reveal his evil plan, and only locks the door to stop her. If he'd kept on being charming and deceptive, which he'd been doing the whole movie, he would have easily gotten away it and won.
The bad guy of Frozen was really forced. The movie could have very easily gone with "it's not true love, I guess we were both just eager to have someone" instead.
