@Frid: The fuss isn't about losing. Personally, I have NO problem losing to a better player, assuming they are not using hacks.
Its people who are arrogant and rude over a GAME, people who are Condescending to NEW players.
Win or Lose I Do Not Care. It's rude people I dont like.
So, let's see if I got the TL;DR right
>Valve's Shanghai tournament is usually a mess
>The ppl supposed to organize repeatedly screw up
>They gave another chance
>They called an host that Valve didn't liked already
>A misunderstanding about suits made them go 'screw it all' and fired evry1
People are rarely good at things the first time they play them. Not everyone devotes their lives to video games. Some people just play a few hours on the weekends because they'd rather spend most of their time outside getting exercise or having face to face interactions.
I was play CS:GO the other day, in CASUAL PLAY, and people were whining about noobs and shit and i'm just thinking, this is the first time I played in over a year and the previous time I played for 15 minutes. We're not even in competition and people are whining and crying cause the new guy doesn't
@Waka: Look there's nothing wrong with competition in itself. And it's funny you're calling me a child. See it's this immature toxic and vile behavior I can't stand. You don't need to shit talk to be competitive. You don't and if you think you do then. I feel bad for you.
@Nos Rin: because there are people who, I dunno, like to compete? to compare their skills with others and see how good they are?
are you going to say basketball, baseball, soccer, etc. are boring because people compete in it?
I avoid competitive games like the plague. They are the cancer of gaming. When people get competitive they turn into ****ing ***hats. It's sickening. The entire point of a game is to have fun. When you take it to seriously it ruins the fun and then what is the point?
@Aaron Chan: Just about. Although in James' defense, he HAD host previous tournaments for Valve and Valve never batted an eye about it until now. Doesn't excuse his unprofessional casting, just that Valve should have seen it sooner.
@Jo Pereira:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJ5XR-Us3G4 at 49:25. The person who submitted the character replied back to me in the comment that it's a coincidence and he didn't knew about you before. Still, it's a bit weird/funny.
Off-topic a bit, but I wanted to ask Jo: I was watching ChristopherOdd's XCOM 2 Let's play, and he just recently hired "José "The Painter" Pereira", who is a former artist turned X-COM soldier. And yes, he is Brazilian nationality. I can't decide if this is a coincidence or not.
Well, i'm not into dota, and i dont know much about that Jones fellow (although i saw a video of his, and didn't like it much), but, considering what i've read (through the link provided by Jo), it DID seemed a tad unprofessional of Valve and Gabe himself to call him an ass on public like that.
Valve is shocked and fired James. Valve CEO then makes drama statement on reddit instead of resolving everything under the cover. Is that the gist of it? If so, then it's very unprofessional for everyone involved.
So let me get this straight. Valve hired James to cast at a major tournament. Valve has no idea about how a professional tournament should be cast. James also has no idea about how a professional tournament should be cast. James cast like he does normally on stream, with swearing and all.
