This is the most honest review I've seen past all the hate for Mighty No 9. People asked for a New Megaman game, They got a new Megaman game. I don't understand why peoplehate Mighty No 9, Every complaint I hear is something that has plagued the Megaman franchise for a long time.
@Aaron Chan: Capcom and Konami can both go to hell. They killed their flagship franchises, treated their creators like shit and did everything they could to milk big name franchises to death while ruining them completely.
@Aaron Chan: Considering the bitch in charge of PR reputedly tried to force the main character to be turned into a girl just because... Not to mention her horrible handling of the community, banning people from the forum for Kickstarter backers for DISAGREEING WITH HER, and all the other shit...
I think the scariest thing about all this, is that Mighty No. 9 was bad for the exact reasons you posted all those years ago, Joe. I thought you were insane for thinking that it would just fail to be fresh or classic. Everyone else crying about it is blaming other BS, but you were actually right.
The problem with Mighty Number 9, is that it got 4 million dollars, and did not deliver 4 million dollars of quality. Instead of keeping things contained and concise, and then using more money where they needed to, they seemingly squandered it.
@Aaron Chan: What's insulting is seeing all those people making silly demands of game creators..'oh, this game has made a sexy character, therefore it is objectifying women', or even 'i am offended by the unrealistic standarts of beauty of this game', etc.
People calling others SJW is the reason I am reluctant of calling myself a gamer. It's one thing to disagree on someone on their views and/or actions, but to label them as an insult is disgusting. It's essentially "objectifying" your opponent.
I'd agree with #1 wholeheartedly (haven't made a game, but I've done some coding so I know how big a pain it can be), but there's one small problem: Inafune has done this type of thing before while I'd wager you haven't(?). At least at a professional level probably.
@GK: Ugh, i swear, if i knew this game would end up having ANY kind of involvment with that SJW bullshit, i wouldn't have backed it... in my defense, i've backed it back when it was first announced, and i haven't really been following it's development... it's sad to see it turned out like this.
Not very far in to MN9, but so far I kind of like the simple Saturday Morning Cartoon feel to the voice acting. I dislike a lack of mouth movements, though.
I can only very vaguely recall the SJW/Dina drama, what is this?
Not being 2D was a deal breaker to me too. Also have you seen Mercenary Kings? I got that game early on thinking it wiuld be like Metal Slug but instead got a game that plays like MegaMan. It is still a fun game but people who got it probably were expecting Metal Slug like game
@???: Literally anyone who took a closer look at the development of the game was aware of dina's toxic influence. Remember THIS disgusting creature? You'd fucking better.
@Xuncu Morton: Wow. You're pathetic. Of all the things to criticize, you chose some nonsense which most people don't even have a clue what you're referring to? Like I don't even know what you're talking about, and the fact that you mention the letters SJW already screams to me you're a loser.
--couldn't keep a GOOD team TOGETHER: (ie: either who he got wasn't good- the SJW-, and/or that he couldn't keep the good together).
Speaking of which: any trace of that taint still in the game, or in the community forum?
I think I'll wait for the Best Friends Zaibatsu to LP it.
I kept my hype low because it wasn't Megaman: I wanted to continue with the established lore, like "What happened between Classic and X? Was it the fan-canon 'Cataclysm'? Where's Legend's ending?"
Then I didn't fund it when I heard about all the SJW bullshit. It showed me that he couldn't keep a
Not to mention how shoddy and mysterious this whole process was. Look, I get that making games take time, but not a single person bought the 'delayed because of networking' thing they pushed TWO TIMES. At least we know whats going on each week on Bloodstained, for example.
I think the biggest problem isn't the audience, to be honest. It was the hype they themselves tried to run high, getting the crowd worked up, and keep worked up. So when it doesn't live up to your own hype? Yeah, people are going to be disappointed.
Eh. Saw the trailers. saw the videogame footage, saw the reviews, and even through everybody's bashing the game, I'm still gonna buy it. Sure, it's not Megaman, but it's close enough (and looks FUN enough). It's got kinda outdated visuals? WHO CARES? No one sane, that's who.
@Zacsi: You mean Capcom? Konami can die in hell with their pachinko machines. I am still a little sour over the cancellation of MML3, regardless of how Mighty 9 turned out.
Okay seriously, I backed the game, I downloaded it, and I am playing it. So far I find it challenging, fun, and I do find the Mighty Numbers pretty interesting. People annoyed about the delays and difficult some are having acquiring it, I get. However so far I am happy to say I am quite satisfied
You can tell the precise point where the game was going to turn into a mediocre setting, and 9 out of 10 people you ask will tell you the same, the 10th person will just say youre a misogynist MRA
Remember when Conami cancelled those Megaman games for not reaching quality standards?
Probably not, because you were swindled hard by the hack that is Inafune. Next time try not to give money to a guy that doesn't have quality standards and hires people on nepotism rather than merit.
THE COMMENT SYSTEM IS BROKEN. JUST CHECK IT or use DISQUS (is free and works pretty fine).
Right now, i am using my fake facebook account, g+ is a no go.
About heresy, i wish i more comics about w40k. :-3 And there are new games about w40k.
