Reminds me of the "Soap" shoes in Sonic Adventure 2. It wasn't until quite some after first playing the game that I found out they were an actual real thing.
Some background that helps explain the quest thing.
Nissin Cup Noodle apparently has an office around the corner from where they were making FF 15, and the workers often interacted at lunch and such. Especially with Cup Noodle stuff being stereotypical "cheap programmer" food, they threw it in.
I felt it was pretty funny. Have you seen the noodle commercial? And let us be honest, they had American express and Mercedes and many other products in the advertisement wagon.
2/2 ...have some campiness going on. They just decided to go full speed ahead with the camp in the noodle quest (not to be confused with the noodle incident). I mean, someone running around using medieval weapons when guns/robots are available is pretty weird, but we accept that cause it's FF.
@Shellhit: it's a weird, modern technically advanced fantasy world, so that gives it a lot of wiggle room for what is & isn't thematically appropriate. I mean, we've got cars & radios & a selfie taking gunslinger, I can accept instant noodles being a thing. Plus, the FF games always...
I didn't have a problem with the cup noodles quest but I also thought "cup noodles" was a generic term, not a brand. Knowing it was product placement...it's really cringy.
It never even occurred to me you could just microwave the cup... I always poured in hot water then put something to hold the "lid" down for a few minutes.
Up to 1:20 in the video, and excluding the zooming and pasted in images, it's actual game footage. You first find an actual Cup Noodle food cart, and get a quest for slaying a shrimp-scorpion beast and cooking it. It's a hassle, and then you get that second cutscene.
