@Elyseon: I have some of the GBA and DS ones. but I barely touch my handhelds because, PC. maybe once I move and im outside more often I'll get around to finishing them but I do finally own a SNES and FFIII (VI)
@Adam Dunn: I hope Marie notices that the business are not going well and take over the administration. She seems to be the most experienced girl when it is about money. She even supported Engie before.
Playing FF7 as a 14 year old, Aeris' death was a massive bombshell to me. But I don't WANT a story where she lives. Her death is one of the biggest motivators in the story's whole plot, and one of the most famous video game plot twists. Losing that would cheapen the whole legacy.
You'll give a job to someone who hasn't gotten an actual game in years, but you won't serve a drink to one who has a planned remake.
This is not how to run a business.
I would love a remake of 6, and maybe 5, and possibly 4. some of the SNES ones, like I dont need the same level as the new 7 but 3d models and a detailed world would be cool. maybe if it looked like the original art for the game. :D
It's not as if I hate Action RPGs, I just think it's unnecessary for FFVII.
But if I wanted to play a (sort-of) FF Action RPG, I'd rather be playing KHIII (which is also taking forever).
Maybe I'll be wrong and FFVIIR battle system will be great, but it still won't feel the same.
Sure FFVII's version of it is a bit clunky by modern standards, but that's mostly a balance problem rather than ATB itself.
And it's not even that ATB even means "everyone stands in a line" nowadays. Square's own FFX-2 had the main characters moving around the battle field.
The reason why the FFVII Remake is taking so long is because they're essentially making a brand-new game with a totally different battle system.
I honestly don't know why they couldn't have just kept the ATB system.
They're was nothing wrong with it in principle.
@Batabii: No, there's a bunch of prequels and sequels (Before Crisis, Crisis Core; Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus) but no remake. There was a re-release of the PC version which added some quality of life features like cloud saving but no actual remastering of the cutscenes or even the music.
I get the fandom denial joke, but I can't help but think that "in-universe" this would be a mean comeback. I mean, reminding someone that a dear firend/love interest is dead? Harsh.
Remake is gonna be utter shit.
(if you think this and it comes out to be not that good, then it will be better than you expected.)
As long as people dont think it will be the second coming of christ, it should be fi- oh who am I kidding, I bet theres a website dedicated to hyping this.
@bugleader:
They did actually, it was for the Game Boy Advance called Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls. It replaced the spells per day with an mp system, made some other game mechanics changes, and added a bonus dungeon.
Did find out about this earlier with the Midgard event from Mobius FF. (Decent cards and both a Legendary job and excellent warrior weapon.) Judging from the early-game cutscenes, it's pretty faithful if better executed in terms of detail and model animation.
there are rumors there may be, the original actually had code where she was going to be saved so they may just do that. plus running a full action style battle against ruby and emerald weapon is going to be a total bitch of a fight.
