I mean, Clackers, Oragami, coin tossing, knife/pencil/stick twirling, masturbation, Yo-yos, Cookie Clicker... Fidget spinners are hardly the first thing in that idle/bored niche.
I suggest a compromise: Fidget spinners can continue spinning and those who don't like 'em can get the Fidget dice. It's just like the spinner except it does numerous distracting things instead of one.
Amusingly, this is one reason Immortals never seem like old fudders. They quit worrying about appearing old, and pick up on new trends as they find them interesting, ignore them when they're boring, and by process of elimination, are forced to hang out with different age groups, so perma-chill.
@Beastwolf: It's not for everyone, some people tend to focus better if their hand are busy doing something, hence the age-old pencil tricks and such. Fidget spinner serves to that end too, but it's not really necessary or irreplaceable.
I'm like that actually, but I've no interest in getting one.
It is unavoidable man, every generation has one of those fad toys that stick around for a while!
And yeah, it is very much likely that people will post things such as the one you commented about... and on that day, we will remember this strip and say to ourselves: 'gee, i'm old!'
@Bottas Heimfe (Dovahkiin): Mid 20s, but I hate them as toys, or rather that kids are bringing them in to schools when they're toys to them. Because there are other kids who are using them to focus in class and they're also getting in trouble.
Oh, I remember boys were spinning things like these all over the place when I was younger. But they looked a bit differently and we did not call them fidget spinners.
We called them butterfly knives.
