@Andrew Hall: I dunno, I have a friend who extolled the virtues of R&M to me and finally got me to "try" watching it. I got halfway through the first episode before I gave up and shut it down completely. While I don't hate the show, I definitely dislike it... just not my cup of tea, I suppose.
Judge not...I play cards with a bunch of people regularly, and when the entire Szechuan sauce incident was happening, our resident R&M fan made his own sauce and nuggets to share with everyone...everyone's just trying to live life, including the creators of this show and Adult Swim.
Ooooh, we're judging media based off the actions of fanbase now? Guess LOL is for toxic abusive trolls so bad devs had to step in... Not that I'm a certified R&M defender; I've only seen a few episodes. I skimmed an episode list;watched what I thought seemed interesting.
@Xavier Chen: You mean Dragon Ball Evolution? I'll let you in on a secret that makes it better, It's not Dragon Ball Z or GT like most people wanted, it's a retelling of Dragon Ball. I'm not saying it's great, just isn't pure crap that most people believed it as when you look at it correctly.
That being said, I totally get watching random clips and not thinking its funny. Watching random clips of R&M would be like watching the latest season of Arrested Development. The odds just aren't in your favor.
So, yeah, that szechuan sauce shit was terrible. I want to make sure McDonalds gets the proper blame too, but that excuses nothing. I'm just generally miffed that the won the PR war about their hot coffee debacle.
"I've never watched an episode of this show but my pissweak level of knowledge is good enough to make a judgement that it is mediocre and that this is not simply an opinion - it's a fact."
Welp the quality of the comics has gone down the shitter lately but this triggered me clicking unsubscribe
Man two in a row, liking TTGO and not liking R&M without actually watching the show. Next you're going to say you like the Live Action Dragonball film.
Saying something is overrated without having actually watched it is rather lazy commentary that doesn't add anything to the discussion and is just click bait sounding. >.>
Rick and Morty is okay in small doses, but they've already done the entire show's formula to death already. We get it, Rick. You're a drunk with autism and your family is very dysfunctional!
I agree with you that R&M is by far not as good as some (loud) people claim. It's especially fun when those then insinuate you're too stupid to get it..
That said, I think the show is entertaining on its own and you should watch at least a few episodes of anything to judge it.
It's an okay show... Community was better, but honestly the community coupled with how it tries really hard to be edgy makes it much less than it could be.
I'm not sure it is mediocre as shows go, I think TV is just a mediocre part of life. Also, this sums it up pretty well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_h062haCH0
To be fair, you're kinda late on that train, Jo. After the Seczuan Sauce Meltdown pretty much everyone accepts that Rick and Morty is a show for patricians and you need a high IQ to understand it.
If you want to have an opinion, at least watch a full episode. S1EP6 is a good place to start as its where you see the full scope of the show. S3EP7 - The Ricklantis Mixup is widely considered the best episode of the series, but relies on some previous plot for its final reveal.
I'd recommend you to watch the Love Potion episode (Season 1, episode 6). If that episode catch your interest, you'll like the rest of the series, and can watch them in order. If you find it gross, uninteresting, or cheap, stay away.
I don't think it warrants a lot of the excessive praise some people give it, but it also doesn't deserve some of the extreme criticism. Honestly, show just got too popular, it's an entertaining and humorous show and that's all it should have to be.
