I had an endless level 26 and stopped playing for a long time, when I went back to show off to a friend I mixed up my plants without thinking and got destroyed. never made it to 30 and I'd have to invest too much time to get back to that knowledge level.
I didn't mind the premium plants of PvZ2 too much, but some of the latter stuff like the seed packets really ruined the game regarding single player balance for me.
I knew as soon as EA bought it they would they would suck every ounce of fun out of it. The original game was fun, silly and challenging. After EA bought Popcap games it used the corpse of the original game to spawn crappy clones riddled with every type of money-grubbing bullshit they possible could
What almost feels like an industry standard at this point is to push players to buy more things by making problems that they sell "convenient" solutions for. Run out of lives? Pay now to have a few more! Feel like you have to grind too much? Pay now to get the boost to bypass it!
The monetization of almost all mobile scene is just terrible enough to ruin the reputation of even better designed games and it tries to creep up to pc gaming too. Obviously games are made to make a profit in the majority of cases but great game and well monetized shouldn't be mutually exclusive.
