To be fair, it sucks balls when a skin is unique or interesting and grossly overpriced. But DOTA 2 is a radioactive toxic dump anyway. Unfriendly to both newcomers and existing players, with a bloated character pool, insufferable community and no incentive to play. Just a vehicle for pushing skins.
People who will dislike or even hate a game because their shiny pixel outfit is behind a paywall will always boggle me. You don't need to look good to play the game, skins do not equal skill, even though some people seem to think so. Cough up the money or leave it be, but don't be salty. #rhymes
I stopped playing Dota 2 years ago. Repetitive, stagnant gameplay coupled with a toxic playerbase is an absolute Nope.avi
I sold my old arcanas on the STEAM market and made nice dosh I used for other stuff.
I mean I earn jack shit (I bet anyone of you earn more than me) but since I don't spend it anywhere else while still having all my basics covered I can afford to spend a few hundred bucks per year on games I like. Don't think optional cosmetics deserve any hate no matter the price.
While I'd like to have some of those new arcanas, I agree with you. With our currency rotten as it is, throwing more than a month's worthy of food supplies in a battle pass plus 100 levels that won't even amount much on sets seems to be so silly.
"Should I blame a company to try to make legal money on a capitalist system or should I blame adults with poor impulse control who enable its behavior?"
I dunno man, you literally brought up people with gambling addictions in the opening paragraph. Maybe you should reconsider how you answer this.
Blame both, because both are to blame. Especially since Valve's not a publicly-traded company where you'd explicitly expect them to only care about money and nothing else. Idiot consumers and greedy sellers. Both to blame.
