If you DO like a narrative driven story though, then Plague Tale is a magnificent choice. It really did feel like playing through a novel with the right blend of gameplay to story. Its heavy though, as should be expected and is not a AAA title.

Saying a single misguided decision makes a character stupid makes no sense.

To be honest, Plague Tale is in no way a AAA game, Asobo Studios is a smaller developer, so it's impressive they put out such a solid game (not my personal cup of tea anyways)

Engie has reached the ultimate "Nope!"

I thought it was great. I love a good narrative heavy linear game experience. It's so rare to find anything that's linear these days in the 'AAA' space, everything's a boring open world slogfest.
