the stupid thing is, when you're that small, falling great distances won't actually hurt you. you could drop an insect of similar size from the Burj Khalifa all the way down to the surface and it might be stunned for a bit, then be perfectly fine.
When they shrink, to they keep their original mass? If not, they'd be too light to get hurt even at terminal velocity. Conversely, if they do keep their original mass, do they reach TV faster with less wind resistance? I'm not a physicist.
