but invasions are the best part for me. I love invasions. in fact I often play while using the taunters tongue right away

Besides, being able to play without unwanted invasions has been a thing. It's called Offline Mode, or using a Firewall while white-listing your friends.
What people wanted from the seamless co-op mod is the ability to explore the entire world without getting disconnected after every boss fight.

"What I see is PvP gankers getting worried people won't need to suffer unwanted invasions anymore." You're not even using the term correctly. Gankers are the host and their friends. Invasions are a cat & mouse game. PvP is a head-on fight. PvP players don't want gankers, not the other way around.
What I see is PvP gankers getting worried people won't need to suffer unwanted invasions anymore. They found a way to play the way THEY want and are being called for it.
Also, Elden Ring is hardly what I'd call a hard souls game.
Let's be honest, people who prefer co-op find the game too difficult to begin with. Obviously, they're gonna get emotional and panic when they get invaded. It's not an experience they're looking for. Meanwhile, PVPers don't like getting ganked. Nobody wins in ER's multi.
Yes, that's how he intended earlier PVP. PVP in Elden Ring is completely broken though, because you only ever invade people in Co-op, or those who want to be invaded, you pretty much only ever turn up to a gank squad, unless you're also running some OP build
I'm fine with keeping it in arenas

The seamless co-op mod is great though. It removes the fog barriers to allow you and your friends to explore the entire open world together. But yes, it DOES prevent invasions. That's why they made every enemy tankier and a new rot mechanic to offset the balance. You're just trading away PvP. (4/4)

True, there is nothing wrong if you want to play the game with friends. That's why the password system has existed since Dark Souls 3, as well as the Name-Engraved Ring in the 2nd game. Jo is acting like an arm-chair developer who knows better without realizing why it was designed that way. (3/4)

Dark Souls 2 even had the Small White Soapstone. It allowed players to continue playing with the host of that area even after the boss has been killed. The downside is that Grey Phantoms disappear after killing a number of enemies. That item never returned in later games for unknown reasons. (2/4)

You didn't read Miyzaki's interview as to why every Souls game has been like that. He likened the idea to when his car broke down in the middle of the road. Some random bystanders decided to haul him to the nearest station and he never saw them again. You're meant to play with random people. (1/4)
The main focus of the mod isn't to prevent invasion, but to allow you to stay in a party all the time, and the game is balanced that way (enemies have more HP, take more to stagger and bleed, etc)
Unfortunately, all semblance of balance in co-op is destroyed now that the mod prevents invasions, killing that entire part of the game on PC. It's a PVPless like WoW/DBD
I wish they had put more focus on invasions to make it balanced and enjoyable for everyone, before the community modded it out
