@Formedras: in a game or whatever, they should be more than just that, they should be well written and executed successfully as a character, not just a bland nobody with no depth 2/2

@Formedras: and yet you are the hateful one for hating people who won't revere gender idiology. Do I tolerate their existence, yes, do I respect them to the level of normal people, yes, but more than that is something that they need to earn. if people are going to make a trans character 1/2
Ugh. F bigots like Pondozan and Lethrow that think "people existing" means their rights are being shoved down their throats. Stop shoving your BS down ours.
@Chris Sizemore
English is inherently bastardized so that's pretty much a moot point.
Languages change constantly, for various reasons, including politics. Like that time English nobility imported a bunch of French into English to make it sound fancier and made it such a mess.
@glimmerthegepgun That is bastardized English actually. The proper third person singular pronoun to use when you don't know the gender of a subject is to use the male. "Yeah, I am staying away from him." This has fallen into disfavor recently due to gender politics, but it is the rules of English.

@Swagner: so you deny things and call it bs and mention a person I have never referenced, nice, but like it or not, people are getting arrested for hatecrimes that amounted to a nothing-burger and in the end was just someone who didn't like the pronoun they were called

Just wanted to say that I really like the second frame
@John Lethrow
The English language is inadequate. It doesn't have a proper genderless third person singular pronoun. They/them is used as the closest thing English has to offer, which is what a common speaker will use to refer to a single person that they don't know the gender of. 1/2
@Pondozan That is absolute bullshit. Nobody is getting arrested over misgendering, get your news from someone who isn't Jordan Peterson for once.
@Scryer Oh my god, it's an option in a videogame. You're not being oppressed by the transgendered.

@Formedras: of course trans rights are human rights, have trans, gay and lesbian friends, me myself being bi and been through the process of gender dysphoria, just doesn't justify the way it gets stuffed down everyone's throat in everything.

@Ryan Chase: not my problem if you don't believe in the cases that have been proven to be the case by other people than main stream media. People have been taken to the police station, gotten a slap over the wrist and then let go, as I said arrested, but not imprisoned or fined

@Formedras
How can people identify as "they/them". Those are plurals referring to multiple people. If someone says they sexually identify as multiple people, they are just a nutter.
@Pondozan: Even if you aren't lying out your ass, it's not even 1/10000 the number of people KILLED for not being cis/straight. Trans rights are human rights, and "being tired of it" is no excuse.

@Pondozan Provide proof of your claim. Because it has (to my knowledge) not happened anywhere on planet Earth. The only ones I've seen make that claim are people like Ben Shapiro and Tucker Carlson.

@T.chicken: I never specified a country, but you do you. There have been cases where people have been arrested under the guise of harassment, that in the end was someone calling another person the wrong pronouns. Did they end up in prison, no, but I didn't say that in the first place
@Pondozan
https://factcheck.afp.com/no-canadians-cannot-be-jailed-or-fined-just-using-wrong-gender-pronoun
This I want to debunk "jailed for misusing pronoun" immediately since even my "non-partisan" and left-leaning friends are falling for it...and they're university-educated.
False equivalence. Maybe if you got to say what your character's race was regardless of the skin colour it would be comparable since what you're hung up on is, in actuality, 'preferred' pronouns, but saying it's a one-to-one comparison is just being disingenuous.
If a single option during character creation in an OPEN-WORLD RPG, where the whole selling point is "do whatever you want!" ruins it for you, I'm surprised you haven't already written Bethesda off for allowing you to play a gay character in Fallout. "Oh no! An option I'm not choosing! The Horror!"

@formedras: The way you write about people who are tired of current day politics says it all. People aren't bigots just because they want to escape from reality with their entertainment. They just want to let go and do something that doesn't remind them of irl, but that becomes harder by the day
@Crass Spektakel: Bigots are angry that regardless of body type, you can pick he/him, she/her, or they/them for your character to (actually almost never) be referred to with. Morgan, however, is annoyed that the pronouns are literally having sex.

I mean I wouldn't say I'm not annoyed by the way modern-day politics are invading everything these days, but the ones that get REALLY mad about it are almost invariably the sort of folks that would love to bring us back into the fifties with no gays or non-whites anywhere. It's tiresome.
While I am no native speaker I use English on a daily base. I even write books using English. I am talking to Brits and Yankees on a daily base.
And I have absolutely NO idea what I am looking at. Please explain it to me like I am five.

Live and let live is the way to go, more options for players are ALWAYS a good thing. More games need to go the Saints Row 2/3/4 route. Also hey, finally got commenting working!
Problem with the "dont care" and "live and let live" mentality is that that led to you being able to get fired over not using made up pronouns and in some places you can even get fined or jailed...
They sadly dont follow "live and let live" they follow "bend the knee or die!"

@Loki Kitsune Here's an answer, race and sex isn't even on the table and what people are doing with their own version of a game is up to them, not you or any other person, pronouns are forced upon people and in some countries you can even get arrested for calling someone the wrong pronoun
@Pondozan. Here's an experiment. Replace the word "pronouns" with any of the following words and see if you can figure out why folks are offended by HeelsVsBabyface's rant.
Blacks, Asians, Hispanics, Gays, WOMEN.
Can you see the problem now?

I think it's pretty gross that people are attacking someone for having an opinion about issues happening in current day entertainment, but hey, if pronouns weren't a big deal as people make it out to be, then how come mods that remove them are getting banned on nexusmods, just wondering ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
For some reason, that reminded me of Mr. Enter and Turning Red.
EXCEPT he is willing to self-reflect and learn instead of doubling down.
Then again, there is big difference between HvB who made consistently "anti-woke" video and Mr. Enter was misguided.
It wasn't even the pronoun game that sparked that rant, it was the incessant identity politics continuing several hours in. And it was bloody Hassan Piker who falsely insinuated that Az flew off the handle right off the bat.

the clip itself wasn't just about the pronouns though, he made a video talking about it because someone shared that clip and made it go viral. but in short, it's about not being able to do just about anything without getting shoved current day into your face and 6-7 hours into playing starfield 1/2
