>>] nothing about it in "serious" reviews, and you had to search for the "unserious" reviewers (like yahtzee) to get a gist of what is good and what is bad about the game. THAT's my biggest problem with woke, it's a smokescreen for knowing which games aren't good.
>>>]you had to dig through all the praise and representation in both the game and the staff behind it, and how much of a success on a cultural scale it was(being the 27th to be "first" to do something), before you got to the meat of "what in the game is fun". Often, there was almost >>]
Up until recently very few games were lauded and advertised as anti-woke, meaning that there was a stark contrast, where some game reviews you had actual opinions on how fun the game is to play or what it calces in its mechanics, whereas in the "woke" ones >>>]
You know, nobody cares if a game has or lacks political statements as long as the game is good. When a game fails hard, people point to politics as a crutch to excuse the failure of the game. And a tiny minority will bitch no matter what. that is life.
I agree with ??? that the discourse about "woke" is tiresome. The people upset by inclusion would be a lot happier if they actually enjoyed games, like the rest of us. Nobody's stopping ??? from doing that.
I find it amusing that no comment is made my criticism of the anti-woke, but people like Patrickdxs can't even form a coherent comment when their side of the culture war is being criticized as well. Considering how much flak I get from the former in other places...I guess it balances out? XD
The irony in ??? Calling lgbt people or those asking for things like epilepsy warnings, miserable to be around while he's actively bitching in a comic's comments who didn't ask and being miserable to everyone. Man you're miserable because you're hateful, that's your own fault. Take it to therapy.
Space Marine 2 is having a surprisingly good launch. Players are very happy. This is a sequel that is straight up a successor of its first game and an improvement. While SM2 has some flaws, there is enough game play that the flaws are easily overlooked. Not everything in 2024 is doom and gloom.
Can sympathies with Angie but the system is Batosera on the Steam Deck. Just getting a ISO file for Xbox N64, or PSX/PS2 to run makes me happy. Mainly because there are so many game sfrom that generation I want to revisit.
Hell...if it really was the case that Angie is having sex, she'd *STILL* have a healthier life than what seems like 90% of "gamers" these days. It's certainly healthier than Morgan or Anne-Marie.
I think what saddens me is how much Discourse™ (and, to a greater extent, culture wars) has ruined my ability to even talk about games now. Everything has to be about DEI and "censorship" and how the libs/woke have ruined everything on one side, [continued]
[second part] [Insert character here] is queer-coded or [insert game here] is misogynist and we need to have "accessibility" options in games and flash warnings on the other. I just wished they all just shut the fuck up and move on with their lives. They're just so miserable to be around.
I enjoyed Axiom Verge like I enjoyed playing 16 bit games on console when I was a kid. To me this is proof I’m not just old and jaded, triple A games really got less enjoyable.

Haha, I just found a game like that this week too! It's called "Witching Stone" and it's got remarkably deep and elegant design (even though it looks alot like a match 3 game). Even has a free demo!
As someone who tends to enjoy all the little mysteries and lore tidbits, Abiotic Factor was awesome. Loved the whole "SCP but science" aspect. Not a huge fan of the Half-Life 1 graphics, cuz that stuff is straight up ugly, but it wasn't too bad once I was actually playing.
