Does it really get that cold in Brazil? Sure, southern Brazil is pretty far down in latitude, but I thought that the majority of the country was semi-tropical?

Ugh, I know what you mean. During the winter, we used to get temperatures around -7C back where I lived. And that was during the day. At night it regularly reached temperatures of -26C or cooler. We didn't take many midnight strolls during the winter.

As a Brazilian I have to say that the best cold is -5°C. All the humidity just freeze and you can stay confortable with the right clothes.

The worst cold in 1~5°C with wind and rain. Your clothes means nothing unless they are waterproof!

In New Mexico the winter is around 4c to 10c, but then you add high winds and low humidity, it gets worse. Spring is full of dust storms. Now fall weather is just awesome. Summer? Wildfires.

As a child I grew up in Maine and remember snow still on the ground in May and -32C temperatures. We moved 700 miles and now I deal with 40c heat, 90%+ humidity and just for added fun hurricanes and tornadoes personally I prefer the cold. Snow is far more polite.

In this part of Germany the changes between warm summer and cold winter are ridiculously small. The overall autumn-weather is so depressing...

The problem is not the temperature itself, because I went to China during winter, and in -5º I was confortable (using shorts when it was 0º).

The main issue here in Brazil's south it is the f*cking HUMIDITY in the air. The cold gets through your clothes and chills your bones >.<

+6c in baku is cold, but bearable. In Moscow - decent weather, you might want a jacket.
-6c in Baku is a nightmare. Water freeses and breakes tubes etc. +35 in Moscow... terrible. Vise versa? Great weather!
