It's made by the Civ devs and even Sid himself is supervising it, I have no idea how people think it couldn't be as amazing as the original.

Until I play the game - not just watch gameplay footage - actually play a copy of the game, demo or otherwise, I won't believe any trailer I see. And after the gamespot affair where a reviewer gave an honest opinion on Kayne and Lynch and got fired, I have every reason to doubt those people as well.

Both games were being developed at the same time, they just kept the strategy one under wraps. Now that Xcom:Enemy Unknown is coming out, it's been strangely quiet from 2k.

either you haven't played "them all", or you just like XCOM because "it is to be liked to be cool".

TFDT was basically the same (much harder), and ufo:aftermath and ufo:afterlight were at least decent, i'd even say very good games.

I per-ordered the game months ago on Amazon. Though only because I hope Amazon ships it a few days early... would of got it at gamestop if Amazon wasn't known for sending games early.

On the other hand, some of us have been asking for X-com strips ever since Jo hinted at doing one about the original game, long before this one was announced.

I preordered it a few days back after watching the gameplay vids and multiplayer vids from Pax. I don't know if its going to be a good Xcom game, but it sure looks like a good game. My most anticipated right now.

If you include Apocalypse among those sequels that sucked, I'm going to have to hit you on principle.

Yeah, it's magnificent. It and the trailers are what convinced me.

Aftermath was a perfectly good take on the game! I enjoyed the hell out of it at least.

What I really want to see, is if two of the things I best remember from X-Com 1 and 2 will return in force.

I'm referring to the mortality rate of the team, and the instakilling epidemic behaviour of the Chryssalis and Tentaculat.

I'm glad you're going to give the game a good shake down. Myself, I learned of it through RockPaperShotgun, a website that enjoys being fully honest about it's thoughts about video games. I also like X-Chan, all grown up. Since X-Com is available on Steam, will we be seeing X-Chan and Steam-Waifu?

I've preordered worse games. Plus if we hit stage 3 of the preorder bonuses, we get Civ5!
