Nothing beats the simple yet elegant complexity of Shogi. It far outshines Western Chess in every way. I haven't even considered playing Chess since I first learned to play Shogi.

This is the sad sorry state of big publishers in videogames.
EA and Activision producing for the most idiot consumers, they are in bed with the reviewers and get paid hype, all part of the marketing machine to get 4 year olds into the next war simulator.

As a someone going to school for game design, I am seeing this way too frequently for my own sanity.

There are more complex strategy games than Starcraft out there. ;)

And chess is balanced, because even though whites have the first turn, they are the ones that must simply guess a move, while black can automatically respond to moves and thus never make a bad one... and that counts.

There actually was a sequel to Tic Tac Toe. In the 90s there was some kind of giant board game where you had to connect 5 instead of 3. The commercial had a bunch of guys in X costumes in a grassy field being pushed over by a single 0 and visa versa.

The first player is OP in both chess and checkers. Tic-Tac-Toe is perfectly balanced, therefore it is the perfect game.
