Mega-Man is actually quite relevant Jo. He has a popular comic book which frequently sells out at my local comic shop. He is even doing a 12 part crossover with Sonic called Worlds Collide right now. The first 4 arcs of mega man were stale due to being rehashes of the games but it gets a ton better!

Smash made Sonic better (Colors and Generations were very good), maybe Megaman will get better, too.

Megaman is in better hands with anyone but Capcom. Between the amazing figures from Bandai's D-Arts,the Archie comics, and Nintendo's inclusion of him in Smash, things are looking up for Mega.

Mario helps out all of his old friends - even old rivals, like Sonic. He's the 'I made it big, now to share the success' guy of the gaming world. Sonic is kind of the 'everyman' guy who reached his peak, then hit rock bottom, and is getting his life back in order ala Robert Downey Jr.

Have people forgotten that Rock there is in the vs. Capcom games? Granted, his 2D platforming days are falling into obscurity.

They didn't drop Mega Man because he "wasn't popular enough", they dropped him because his creator left the company, and they are being spiteful because of it.

You will notice they have no problem marketing merchandise for nostalgia on him, they just won't do a game on him.

Dead Rising is now a of Decay clone and they show nothing else, so they really are moving forward with the times. I'll hang back with Smash though.

With that out of the way, Mega Man's modern/retro representation in Smash is superb.

When I first saw the last panel, I thought that the Wii fit lady was handing the picture to the Villager (since the Villager's hands are just pink balls).

Capcom don't know what to do with the megaman franchise since it's creator keiji Inafune left the company. Now they sit on that golden egg like a mother guss, maybe hoping to forget about it.
Nintendo on the other hand knows how to handle strong long living enfranchises.

Well a big part of the reason is that Megaman is still a popular character among many fans, even after all those years, and that the first megaman games were on Nintendo, so they have history. And no, NO MEGAMAN X, that was on playstation.(mostly)

Wow, this comic actually has feels. It's still comical, but strangely true. If games were alive...Megaman was part of the good ol' days with Mario, Link, Samus and Kirby. And it sucks to see an old friend down on their luck.
