Hmm just a thought. Someone did do something like this already, about 4-5 years ago. It was City of Heroes and they could make their own missions with their "Mission Architect."

I know I had to dig my way out of an obsidian penis when the server's antigrief went offline for a week. THankfully after the antigrief was fixed, the lands that got griefed where rolled back.
@zemerick They can't make everything voxel and I doubt it's voxel and also looks like that. The servers would explode. As much as I love the idea, I can't believe it without proof. Even Euclideon couldn't provide proof in 2011, how could have Sony solve that problem, that fast?

After the amazing game, I really wanna see a Pudge/Hook coming.
On Everquest, I am so excited for the potential. But hope is the first step to disappointment....
I think it's a little bit too ambitious. Also if the penis towers and the grieving starts they can always do the "Groundhog day" excuse and reset the whole world everyday.

A bit offtopic, but this reminded me of JetSetRadio on Dreamcast. I remember how you could save images in your VMU and then use those images to "tag" the walls in JetSetRadio... lo and behold a city tagged with porno >.>

Haha oh man, this is so true.
But chances are these features will be extremely limited as other posters have noted.

EVE is an MMO with player-created content. Griefing is kept to a maximum and it's a ton of fun :D

Otter: Obviously...except not. It is 100% voxel. They were also very clear that absolutely everything everywhere can be destroyed, with the small caveat that players themselves are not allowed to destroy certain things such as major cities ( to prevent everything becoming a wasteland. )
The way I see it is that since it's not voxel based (obviously) is that there probably be certain "battle areas" where you can destroy the environment, but when everyone leaves the monsters and environment gets restored for the next party. I wouldn't mind something like that.

Last time I checked out Wurm Online wasn't particularly polished. Barely even felt like an Alpha. But then again, I guess it might have changed since then.

Note that everything thats destroyed will respawn after some time.
So you cant destroy the whole world, it will reshape itself again.

I'm truly intrigued as how this MMO will turn out. Perhaps I'm getting jaded as an old gamer but... seriously any new MMO that comes out it's just like any other.
And that same old formula is getting quite stale, indeed.

AFAIK, from the presentations:
- Cities can't be destroyed or modified by players, except in very specific ways.
- Most places in the world will "regenerate" after a while, apparently 5 minutes.
- Players should be able to do as they want with their houses, as long as it isn't offensive.

A MMO where you can shape the terrain of the entire map?
You mean Wurm Online, a game that has been around for years?

To this day i still don't understand what the fuck is in EA's head when they include an achievement for creating spores with questionable look.
I was honestly thinking the exact same thing as him.

Lmao, are they really advertising this like they invented user made cities. Does no one remember ultima online? They had burglars in that game who could chuck exploding potions through your windows or from a taller building next to yours.

IIRC players can't destroy the major cities and all the world content they'll try to get into the game is screened beforehand. So... yeah. Hopefully that stuff won't be a problem.
Sounds a lot like the lofty goals of Shadowbane. It's player built cities in an otherwise Everquest-like MMO was pretty incredible, and the layout for the huge guild battles was quite amazing. Unfortunately, the hardware tech of the early 2000's just wasn't able to handle it yet.
