Oblivion is in a weird place for me. Morrowind came out my first year of college. Oblivion followed a few years later, and never felt as good as Morrowind... but the jank inherent in the system always stuck out as memorable to me. Playing it again years later? It's good, janky nostalgia rules.
Yeah, roguelikes and Metroidvanias are, like, 90% of my gaming diet these days.
Right now I'm playing Brotato, Dead Cells, Hollow Knight, Dungeons of Dredmor, FTL: Faster Than Light (Multiverse Mod), and Shantae and the Seven Sirens.

I like how her horns look more like buff arms flexing =D
Beware the nice ones, as the saying goes.
Especially if the nice one is a tentacle.
Unless you're into that ofc.
Watched someone streaming Expedition 33 last night. Beautiful game. Gameplay seems engaging. The story is wild. Definitely a strong contender for Game of the Year.

IMO, Oblivion didn't measure up to Skyrim, but Elder Scrolls games have been generally steadily improving since Daggerfall. I strongly recommend doing everything BUT the main story first to better prepare you for it; I got stomped when I tried to start with the main story.
I've seen enough hentai to know where this is going.

... and if you had a high level, and managed to defeat a roadside bandit, you could buy a house just from selling the high-level gear he dropped.

... and I fully concur with Noel Loordes' comments about the leveling system. Still stands up today as a prime example of how not to do leveling.

And you could totally cheese the game by maxing out the Chameleon spell.

I was horribly disappointed by Oblivion, because it didn't measure up to Morrowind. And the part I was most excited about before release - seeing the world of Oblivion, home of the Daedra - was what sucked the most.
Have you tried Animal Well? Some Metroid fans really love it.

On-topic: I love the idea of modding a horror game to invert the horror :3

Pre Scriptum: The max-length per comment somewhat sucks. Maybe would be better to allow arbitrary length (or at least "two A4 pages" type of length) and a "truncated by default, expand on click" design for display.

O b l i v i o n . No need for nostalgia goggles there. The first time I played it, I modded it to death with sex mods and anime hair styles, so I recently did a play-through (including shivering isles) with only an mod for solving the somewhat obnoxious leveling system. ...

... The only real issue is the leveling system, that forces you to do weird shenanigans to not end up with low stats points later on, while enemies scale with your level, leading to road-side bandits in high-end armor. For this I'd recommend a mod. ...

... The magic system is somewhat hard to get into. The only magic that it worth the MP costs without tweaking custom spell combinations (requires some progress in the mages guild and purchasing spells to gain the effects for spell-crafting) is summoning really, and healing for support. ...

I'd recommend to do the story content in the order of release. Shivering isles in particular makes zero sense if you do it too early. Anything more would be a big spoiler.
I haven't seen any info myself on Expedition 33. The video on the steam page does look interesting. But I prefer to catch a few game reviews/before you buy videos before making any decisions.
Sadly to much of Oblivion got carried over to the remake. Including the horrendous character creator.
I wasn't holding up any hopes for the remake. Which I did hear news about early this year. I'd rather be playing the fan adaptation, Skyblivion.
Akane has only one way to get back home: collect the 42 keys to parallel worlds. Eri and Ben are just trying to get through the summer before university. When a magical key turns up in an old spare set, all three are forced to change their plans and fast.
