@Commelina XD-26: They really are not doing hardware, tbh. Rather, they are trying to get various PC manufacturers to do it for them, and install SteamOS on it. Imagine an Alienware Steam Machine...
Basically its a PC - Windows cost - monitor cost - peripherals + Steam Controller

But Valve can't even count to 3. How can they make TF3 or a gaming machine?

I have to say I'm kinda awed (or shocked) to see Valve did this. Valve has to be the least expecting company when it comes to hardware, IMO.
Steam OS is great news. I was worried how M$ might begin hurting steam through that cursed GFWL in W8...
Machines doesn't change anything really, but that steam controller seems innovative, might give it a try.

@randomacronym: quite possibly, yes. Tf2 has been out for *looks at calendar* 6 to 7 years, and steam/valve seem very comfortable with the classes. I guess the closest they would come to making a new class would be have the option to fem a class.
Linux (so I can finally purge Microsoft out of my life), more accessible PC gaming, and (rumoured to be) easily upgradable.
What's there not to be excited about?
