I love how so many people completely miss the entire point of the experiment and tend to forget that in certain situations, even without the democracy mode, the majority of the chat had banded together to get shit done. Sure, democracy would make it easier, but then what's the point?

@AlmightySpoonman: It's not them being stupid, it's them sending around 1k inputs per second. "Left hand doesn't know what the right hand does" kinda applies here - except the left hand doesn't know what itself does, either.
@Guilherme Chelli de Almeida: Democracy lets us traverse very careful situations more easily. Outside of things like the tile maze or tricky ledges, anarchy will be better.
Sad part is, they barely did any progress with democracy, even now most of the actual advance was made when on anarchy.
Still I can just barely believe how far they've already get.

Dictatorship mode would actually be the most successful here to win the game. As has been proven by the many times Pokemon has been won by a single person playing in the past.
Anyone trying to play the game seriously is going to have a hard time because everyone is trying to move the character as if they alone are playing. There is little you can do to communicate to everyone because any communication is lost in a sea of text commands.
I don't think anyone in the Twitch chat is stupid. The trolls know exactly what they are doing, inputting commands to make the player dance around and do funny things like consult the helix fossil. As for everyone else...
I never played a pokemon game, so I don't get half the jokes, but my favourite one so far is: An infinite number of monkeys may produce the complete works of Shakespeare, but an infinite number of people will never finish Pokemon. (Not the correct text, but there is a comment charater limit :P)
After looking at it for roughly 30 seconds (before my connection to twitch died) I have to say the comic is FAR too kind. It took the entire time just to open the save option and I'm still not sure if it saved.
And you thought the LoL tourneys kills Twitch? This is far worse.
I have no idea what this comic is about or about the reference of the pokemon twitch thing. I've seen people play competitive pokemon on twitch so I don't know what this is suppose to reference.

People are talking about how the "experiment" should have been kept pure, how they should have let people wander endlessly, even if it does take them months or years. But even with how popular this has become, is it really going to be sustainable over too much time?
Democracy only works if people are smart, that is something we can't find in twitch.
It goes from democracy to anarchy and so on and no progress is made in either modes.

@Arbition: Actually, anarchy managed to get through almost the entire maze in much less time than democracy. If anarchy had been left to it and not immediately voted against I believe the maze would've been solved faster.
That is until it gets to the maze, and suddenly "F* we're in the wrong maze". When a single step matters, democracy makes a difference.

Have to say I disagree with you. The democracy mode accomplishes the same thing as anarchy but at a much slower pace. It basically reduces mistakes but at the cost of speed and does so to the point were it's not even worth it.
