This is DOTA. It wasn't designed for comebacks to be neigh-impossible, but that's how it turned out to be. When you die, you lose money. The team ahead can keep staying ahead through levels. You lose a few inner structures and your team will just stop pushing lanes. DOTA is not a comeback game...
I like the art in this comic. I love how often it updates. I don't love how it is 95% DOTA2 nowadays, and though I get most of the jokes it is just getting a bit stale.
This is why all the plebs going "DOTA IS SUPERIOR BECAUSE OF 10 MILLION $ TOURNAMENTS" are stupid.
Dota is good, but in the end you should play the game you and your friends enjoy. It's not like you'll ever get a piece of that money or that the prize pool make the game more interesting in the end.

@Bindal: Oh, now I see it. Still I think that both versions are not mutually exclusive within the fandom...
Look on the bright side, at least we can look forward to PA Arcana... and Spectre Voice Pack... and Void... remod- forget it, fuck this.

@Korvalus: No, the idea is to think that another finale happened entirely. And in Anne-Maries case, also support her personal greed by letting herself think she bet on the winning team (which didn't even play as it lost way before)
I know what you mean, well, kind of. EVO 2013 TTT2, i remember cheering like crazy to Bronsom Tram, Jinpachi and Ogre was like a team of Drow and Sniper (cheap, but easily conterable), yet he delivered some great matches. Only to lose to an asian with the most boring game ever...

El Saico, FG tournies have collusion instead. ^_^
As for MOBA's, the slippery slope issue, and dealing with it in Kohan 12 years ago, is why I never really messed with the genre (though Kohan was awesome)

Now that the International which I hate ended, better comics which are not about some stupid tournament will show up again finally.
And Jo, haters gonna hate, don't mind people bitching about Dota2 comics, I'll keep reading even if you make International comics or EVEN League Of lols comics.

Also raises me the question that why anybody could want to bet real-money-paid digital items to something so fickle to streamed matches, it reminds me to BWin and the like... Oh, well. I guess that is matter of time that gambling houses start to claim their part of the pie in this...

Hmmm... I think the idea is that the final were so downer that the ones who saw them prefer to remember and defend them like they were awesome the matches that, one reason or anocher, liked it most. Anne-Marie, being Anne-Marie, chose the one which made her win more rares.

@A5PECT: It didn't lose - it wasn't even near the finals. They lost the 2nd round in the lower bracket (which they started in, I might add), netting them 5/6th place.
I called this was going to be the most anticlimatic TI after seeing Alliance and Navi not making it to the top. I had to rewatch last years Grand Finals just to get hyped, this years was so boring.
@The J Man: To be fair the sound of nails on a chalkboard is better then anything that women could do but I would not spam her Facebook or anything, I do feel bad for the people at the after party that had to listen to her.
Well Jo, it did GO better than that train wreck that was the intro to the TI4 After party....Poor Katie Kate, Dota 2 Community REALLY fucked up again, it's just so depressing.
I have no idea what you guys are talking about. It was the best finals of all time. Here's a quick summary for those who missed it:

I'm not a DotA player and even I understood this strip. It helps if you can relate it with large-scale sporting events like the U.S. Superbowl or the FIFA World Cup, as others here have.

@Verteros: DotA 2 players can bet on matches with in-game items, which is something Anne-Marie is fond of doing due to her materialistic nature. The team she was betting on apparently lost.
I love me some Dota, I do. Honestly though, one of my favorite comics, not just Nerfnow, but all time is the Castlevania/Jeopardy one.
That said, yeah, disappointed in the final but there was some great stuff before then that I can rewatch. I do wish I could watch that match in her head though.
But seriously Jo to quote this perfectly, "this is part of being a sport -- shit happens, the team with the fairytale storyline doesn't always make it, sometimes big and hyped matches suck. This year's super bowl was pretty pathetic, Brazil v Germany was a catastrophe, etc."

Your comic is vague and I don't understand the reference to Anne-marie. Please someone tell me what she is talking about.
At the end of the day, folks, there's only one real winner: Valve. They netted nearly $33 million from people buying stupid trinkets. So now Gabe can afford a fourth vacation home. #capitalism

This comic used to be so much more interesting before Jo got addicted to DOTA2. And it's not like knowing the MOBA jargon makes DOTA jokes interesting. Except for Pudge hooking random shit, but Jo blew through those jokes pretty fast.
I don't know about Anne but JO I got me a total of 250 dollars worth of rares and legendaries
As you said Jo, Dota 2 is not fair, you crush your enemies make them GG and crush the fans and make the largest esport prize pool event the most anti climatic ever. It was underwhelming.
The final part of the International had me at the edge of my seat. Sure there were painful parts, but it was worth it for the very last one. At a number of times I thought the finale was coming to its end, but then a clever play extended it.
The robot punches monsters and bad robots and one time he was a cowboy.
