@ Tyler Smith: Ah, but it's quite often NOT successful at raising donations.
Donating money cuts into the soda-budget, but dumping ice-water on yourself on a 'dare' is much easier.
Heck, half the people were probably never told about the donation side at all.
@Biggus Dickus: thats the thing though.. it doesnt matter what people are doing it for. if its successfully raising donations and awareness who gives a shit why people are doing it?
nobody will give a shit about ALS anymore once this fad dies down. people just seek attention with this garbage. the donations are just a positive side effect.
People bitching a lot here how the Ice Water Challenge is this & that.
but its ACTUALLY succeeding in raising awareness, & MILLIONS of dollars worldwide are being donated
you do the challenge & u donate. you challenge others.
it's actually working where "just donating", isnt.

@Geary: It's funny, because I didn't know it was for any kind of cause before I read this comments section. All I saw was people wanting more exposure pouring buckets of water over themselves.

@The Cheat: inorite? There's so much potential to play Anne-Marie's deceptiveness off of Alek's naivety. I'm still wondering why Jo hasn't explored that yet.
Also: props for the username. You get a pizza trophy.
@A5PECT: Makes sense to me.
If Jane/Morgan ever get boring, I think that there's potential for the devious Anne-Marie to play off of the more straightforward Alek too.

Anne Marie can play the latter, but her personality and what she represents make her usage more situational. Alek is arguably the least confrontational of the four (though she does have her moments), so that's why she shows up the least.

Once the characters established their personalities, it makes the most sense for Morgan and Jane to get the most paneltime, since their personalities naturally generate conflict against each other. One plays protagonist (usually Morgan) and another plays antagonist (usually Jane).

@Dinonick: The poll was held when the characters were first introduced. Readers had nothing to determine their votes from besides the characters' physical appearances.
And as the kids say: tits or gtfo.
Its weird how these 2 are in every other comic even though the heavy was voted for the most in the poll
(the frenchie spy girl gets a camwhore joke every once in a while too)
Say what you will, but it's certainly working in drawing attention to the cause. If nothing else, most of the better known Youtube people seem to be donating a fair amount of money - and while it might have a dumb "challenge" attached to it, raising money for charity is not a bad thing.
@GK I think it's really just a simple gimmick.

@Fenbrae people were supposed to do the challenge or pay 100 dollars, or something, and some said to do both. This is supposed to get attention towards the cause.
I really don't get this challenge. It's basically saying "throwing a bucket of cold water on yourself helps your fellow humans". It's pretty much the same as "500 likes on this post will save a child with AIDS". It's useless. Just let everyone donate $5 or something.

I can't believe that people have become so docile that pouring a bucket of really cold water over your head is somehow a challenge now. I'd do it right now, but I don't have a bucket.
I'm annoyed by this ice bucket challenge. Yes I know it's for a good purpose, No I don't care. Yes I'm a cold-hearted bastard, No I sleep fine at night.
It is sad how all this "raise awareness for "insert random disease here"" became a giant attention war between celebrities and non celebrities alike. Humans are pathetic, doing everything they can to gain attention and nothing will stop them. We need more drawing tentacles.
