A force "nuke" exists, it's called a thought bomb, it took several sith lords to make and upon activation it eradicates any force sensitive things within MILES and leaves a fallout that gives headaches/bad stuff to anyone who is force sensitive that goes near it for decades.

This reminds me of old Penny-Arcade a lot. Love the gag.
@Raxyz: People keep saying this, but the only crossguard lightsaber I can find before this had only one side-blade jutting out at a 45 degree angle, not two at 90 degree angles.
@Big_Gamer The Bioware games are conditionally canon as well, because the new books (like Book of the Sith) reference it heavily.

No but there's still a large portion of clones in the general grunt works of the Empire. They're flash cones that are bread extra quick. But due to the Kamino rebellion they mix up the number and people who are the clones template.

Context.
I was referring to the crossguard lightsaber seen in trailer. It still looks stupid and my original statement stands. As for the flail I commented nothing on it. I am well aware of the lightsaber whips. I am quite knowledgable in SW.

Why isn't the flail part of that lightflail made of light?
@Big_Gamer: Disney said the EU is not being considered canon for the Episode 7 movie.
Books still exist, comics still exist. The only thing is in clarifying "ok, in this movie? That stuff didn't happen." For which some sort of statement was necessary given the amount of material and timeframe.
So I take it the lightnuke would be more powerful than the deathstar?
Also, remember people that Disney restarted the EU so the only things that exists are the stuff shown in the movies and tv series (and the new comics/books)
The crossguard lightsaber, I like. Since the prequels they treat lightsabers as if the blade doesn't have a weight (since they don't have to record with broomsticks to ease sfx anymore) so it would be usable, especially by the training freaks they are supposed to be cont
@RoderickBR yeah, but we already have lightsaber resistant materials.
The lightshield is just a lil bit silly.

Seriously he's a SITH, he probably doesn't care much for his own safety. My guess is he might be a form of berserker, utilizing a larger, heavy-hitting broadsword/claymore-equivalent of a lightsaber, rather than the flashier, more acrobatic katana-like standard lightsaber the Jedi mostly use.
Actually, a light shield would be pretty cool. Not sure how effective it would be to carry a large board with a large facemelting surface would bem but a way to block lightsaber attacks on the go while freeing the lightsaber hand would be interesting.
Wow... this is both the best and worst one I have seen talking about the new light saber. Best because of how much it helps convey some of the other aspects of it... and worst because I can see the light flail and shield being introduced into the starwars RPGs by homebrew or in the next movie.
@Nerf NOW!!: If you say so. But i´m somewhat disappointed you didn´t use the opportunity to draw a full body light armor as protection against stronger melee weapons. Which then became obsolete because of the superior firepower of the lightsaber guns.

I imagine that the cross guard lightsaber would still have some of the same wielder-based vulnerabilities to a lightwhip that a regular lightsaber faced.
For the people who are saying it's easy to cut down that crossguard with another lightsaber, here is your answer: "Mandalorian Iron hilt" Problem solved and answered.
@Boomfly this makes a lot of sense, really! But I still think they should use multiple light sabers aided by mechanical limbs like Grievous minus silly pyrotechnic shows that gets you killed.
@Andy: This has been explained in a couple ways, my favorite was that the beams are all 1 beam and the metal is just to guard your hand. Another was, not all materials can be cut through by lightsabers.
@Andy: That's only assuming the side-beams only start from the tip of each side, rather than internally, which would provide the protection of a decent cross-guard, as Colbert pointed out on his own show. The tips only cover the bits closer to the middle to prevent self-inflicted finger injury.
@Falkh: Lasers guns are worse than Ranged Lightsabers silly. Reason: the force.

I can't help but think that if you tried to stop an opponents blade with the guards, it would just slide down that short distance and cut through the machinery in the middle, probably taking some of your fingers with it?
Love this, but I'm surprised at how much people are ticked off by this. It actually serves an important narrative purpose. Each Jedi gets their own color of lightsaber for the most part! Depending on the movie you're in. But each sith has generally the same color of lightsaber, so different shapes!
The thing about mauls' saber is that it was a troll-tool. Anyone played Jedi Academy? You can do suprising shit if you turn off one half of the double-blade when they don't expect it.
I guess the case is probably the same here - if a part of your saber gets in the way, you turn that part off.
@Exile Reaper: This is why saber users learn several fighting styles. If they fight someone who rely on brute force (Like Vader and ROTJ Luke) they can deflect rather than block them.

@Nerf NOW!!:
True enough, but what if the opponent you fight against is physically stronger than you, and ends up pushing your crossguarded saber enough to get you stab yourself? That's what always has me worried with this saber.
@Nerf NOW!!: Actually double lightsaber can be useful if you know how to use it. Darth Maul is trained in 4 style of light saber fighting style and knew how to use double lightsaber well. Point: You swing down, the opponent blocked the attack. With single lightsaber you need to pull the saber
Double lightsabers are worse than one-bladed one because there are several moves you can't do because you would cut yourself. It's like having a gun with an extra barrel aimed backwards. You need extra skill to use it but does it ever helps you?
@AckAckAck: I think the double lightsaber is worse than an average saber because there are several moves you can't do because you would cut yourself. The extra skill is needed just to use it but doesn't give you any real benefit. It's like a gun with an extra barrel aimed backwards.
@Nerf NOW!!: This. The original (and the first) double lightsaber was made from a single light saber. It's short (one hand only) but the Jedi who use it was skilled enough to avoid getting injured.
@Exile Reaper: Here's the logic, Jedis are training freak. They literally train their saber skill since kindergarten (Luke is an exception) and Siths are dedicated fanatic that spend day in and out mastering their dark art. Of course they know how to handle their weapons.
@Zippy: Actually the crossguard saber already exist before eps VII. People are overreacting as usual. Also Funny you mention light flail since there's already some users who use lightwhip.
@Exile Reaper: It's safer than Darth Maul double lightsaber though.

I agree. The new Lightsaber is very silly, if they wanted to add a hilt they could have found a way better way to do it. I mean it took a hilt guard and then slapped extra long stupid looking minisabers on it. It just looks bad.
