@Kilgore Trout: I miss the glasses too, thought she looked great in them. I was kinda sad to see that she doesn't even wear them to do engie stuff anymore(last comic) when before there was a small arc of her screwing everything up without them. :(
No love for The Cave...I personally liked that little game and think it deserves more recognition, but being put up against things like Mark of the Ninja, I can see why it'd never win. :(

if you want a 2d platformer then you need to play ori and the blind forest. It is an absolutely amazing new game with beautiful visuals and a mostly silent intro that will bring on more feels than the soundless intro to "Up"
If you also want your 2D platformer to be a true artistic masterpiece, you NEED to go for one of the following (some already mentioned):
- FEZ
- Bastion
- Dust: An Elysian Tail
- Valdis Story: Abyssal City
- Ori and the Blind Forest
- Risk of Rain
- Cave Story
Welp. People are really looking forward to Shatae's fan service then... It's too bad, The Cave is great, however since it's already a bit comedy you might not have enough comic fuel.
Anyways, I've finished The Cave already, it's good, but it's way better co-op.

I'd recommend playing the indie game Freedom Planet which was released last year. It's a 2D platformer with awesome graphics harking back to the sega genesis, and has been praised as: "The best sonic game to be released in the past decade." It's a really fun game and I think you'd enjoy it Jo.
A good indie game that I loved was Dust:An Elysian Tale. Really engaging and entertaining storyline and plenty of side quests and collectibles to help you keep busy as well. Getting that 1000 hit combo was so satisfying too. :D
If you are looking for a new game, i can suggest you "Vladis Story : Abyssal city" . Its a metroidvania, incredibly complete, with a freakin good gameplay, and its (really) hard. Its indie and 2d platform. And the music is cool over9000.
Shantae's the easiest fanservice, but Mark of The Ninja's design makes me all tingly inside.

@NERFNOW Even thou Burial is set in Rapture it is a must play if you liked Elizabeth or the story of Infinite at all. The gameplay is still Infinite and totally dif then the old Bioshocks when you control Elizabeth.
If you are looking for something more indie might I suggest Sunless Sea. A wonderful Cthulu mythos inspired semi-randomized openworld ship game. Very focused on various choices and resource management. Combat is a bit weak, but the writing is interesting.

You should check out Elite: Dangerous. I think you'd like it, considering your enjoyment with FTL, Home World, and Mass Effect.
Try "Creeper World 3: Arc Eternal", t's RTS/ Towerdefence/ resource-management game. Campaign takes about 15-20h to complete. And then there are hundreds of hours of fun in challenge maps, level editor, ...
Angie, that's just low. I would also like to say that I miss glasses!Angie. Could we please see her wear her glasses more often. It does not have to be all the time, but having her wear them occasionally would be nice.
Darkest Dungeon i can really recommend (even so it is in early access it has the potential for best indi game of the Year).
10/10 would go insane again.
People may disagree with this and I'm actually surprised I'm about to say it, but: I kinda miss Angie with glasses. Maybe she could wear them every now and then?

@Free: I second Mark of the Ninja, it's an absolutely delightful game. Though I spent 29h on it.
Please think a little in Elite: Dangerous direction! It's definitely your kind of game considering awesome strips about FTL and Mass Effect.
Yes it's expensive like hell but still worth it.
salt is a decent game out now on steams early access
its kinda the usual survival fare but it get the formula right imo

Try Mark of the Ninja - about 14 hours of gameplay; 2D Stealth-action
Or, if you want an Adventure: Deponia. That one I could actually gift you, if want.
