...the pirate items, though, were equally, if not more, fun than the transformations, and they flow seemlessly into each other, making for a much faster and more fluid gameplay mechanic. They were incredibly fun and I hope we see them again in future titles.
...the characters are fantastic. It's also interesting with Shantae being a human now, instead of a half-genie. While the transformations of previous games were fun, I find them somewhat clunky to use, especially when you need to switch between them...
Pirate's Curse is, imo, indeed much better than Risky's Revenge. There's still some fedex quests and backtracking to do which is a little annoying, but to be expected from these Metroidvania titles. As a whole, though, it's a fun game, if a little fanservice-y sometimes (*cough*temple*cough*), and
