I already saw this same gag on a webcomic but I can't remember where and when (but surely a while ago), for a moment I thought it was here but if it was I can't find what was the title and when it was done and posted.
I mean, I seriously loved Magic and Mayhem, right until the last mission. Friendly NPC dies= game over. It was bearable until said last mission where difficulty makes a serious spike and you get 3 friendly NPCs walking around the map to "compensate".
@Nroejb well, my experience is different.
X-COM: Apocalypse is almost playable... until it crashes and you realize there is no autosave there.
Silent Storm takes way too much time to calculate opponents movement.
There was also ancient magic RPG Magic and Mayhem with suicidal AI. Great game.
@Frid
Can't agree, when it comes to NES/SNES/DOS-PC 2D era, there are several games I can still play, like Ufo: Enemy Unknown (though the Remake is almost as good), Tactics Ogre: Let us cling Together, Sim City 2000, Colonisation and Masters of Magic to only name these I play all the time
@Xuncu: Also a pachinko machine. It has an absurd looking trailer, but is still simply a pachinko game (that's partially being supported/funded by a fragrance company?)
This explains why I saw a Konami van at the new casino when it was opening: gambling hardware (wasn't aware of that branch)
Have you actually tried playing any old games?
In my experience every time I try to remind myself of nostalgic feeling of an old game, it takes me like 20 minutes to realize how horrible the game is.
Thank god for Steam refunds.
There will always be nostalgia, there will always be something shiny & new; parents/older people will always wonder what's the matter with "kids these days" and kids/younger people will always complain about parents/older people "not getting it"
