Fun fact, they made Tracer's pose MORE sexualized now. It's amusing how I didn't pay attention to Tracer's original buttpose, but now that Blizzard rubbed it in I -am- getting pissed.
@Frost: That's no solution. People would just stop buying your game if you did that. You'd never make a sequel, and your game will be forgotten forever.
@Wolfzoon: The joke here, i think, is that people have painted her as a pure and innocent character, incapable of even adopting a vaguely sexy pose, and she reveals to said people that she is not a virgin, which conflicts with the vision those people had of her.
This is actually incredible. Combined with the new petition to remove guns from Overwatch, I really love people sometimes. Seriously though, I hope Blizzard (and a lot of unaware people) understand this has NOTHING to do with the pose and EVERYTHING to do with pandering to a single opinion.
On-topic though:
I don't understand how her not being a virgin has anything to do with this pose. Or how it is mind blowing to <other character in comic>.
Explain plux?
Other characters have the exact same pose, but since they're males or their outfit doesn't show the butt people don't care.
In resumen, if there was a problem it would be her outfit and not the pose, but I hope Blizzard doesn't change it.
@Christopher Pepin: It was worse than that. It's not that Samus just magically forgot about her heat shielding, it's that Fucklord Adam wouldn't authorize her to turn it on, and she just decided to listen to him. She actively hurt and endangered herself to get his worthless jackass approval.
Look: This isn't a case of evul censorship or SJW dominance or sexist blizzard or anything like that. It's a case of "The Making of the Sausage". It happens every damn week in gaming development: An idea gets proposed, implemented and rejected. That's all. Game's in beta, shit happens, get over it.
@GK gotta keep an eye on them and make sure they don't grow up without realizing that sex is bad and that they should feel bad if something is physically attractive to them.
Not going to read most of that gigantic discussion thread because I have better ways to spend an hour on Reddit, but I for find it perfectly in character for the energetic tomboy archetype to occasionally flaunt her body, for instance on a whim to be competitive with a more overt 'tease' character.
Someone in the subreddit actually complained about not being able to play it with their kids because asses.
Disregarding the illegitimacy of this complaint, unless you have 2 rigs side by side you are NOT playing this with your kids, you are simply monitoring them.
Removing that quite harmless pose will surelly also remove the other bazillion hardcore pictures. Also this will not inspire any additional invocation of any internet rule. Because the internet is fair and cares.
At one point in the game Samus will let herself die wading through lava and heat despite the fact that her suit is perfectly capable of protecting her simply because her man hasn't taken the time to radio in and suggest she turn on her heat shield.
The problem with Other M was a little bit more than Samus being a little different than how fans imagine her. Ignoring the fact that her characterization in that game was almost a full 180 from what is shown in other games it was also just plain awful on its own merits.
@AsteriskCGY: No, they didn't. They have a giant over-the-shoulder Tracer pose in one of their offices. If this was an issue, they never would have made it in the first place. If this was an issue, she wouldn't be wearing tight pants. Yes, they're meticulous: they noticed this issue and don't care.
Creating a character that feels "real" is incredibly difficult. It's much easier to create a much faker version with little personality - as long as it looks and sounds cool, it's fine for most people.
@Shareazu: Because did you think some random player was able to provide some kind of insight to the artists and designers of a company that is METICULOUS about detail catch something they didn't? They already saw this as an issue, this was just an acknowledgement of it.
@Otter: Yeah, Blizzard's explanation for their decision was pretty well-reasoned and at least sufficient for me to accept. I think it'll largely hinge on what the "new" pose is- if it's just an all-around better pose (maybe even a pretty sexy one! Not out of the question!) Things should calm down.
Man, i wonder why doesn't any company just stand up to those complaints and refuse to change.. it's not like it's a major offense, it's just a character striking a pose.. maybe it's a bit 'out of character, but it's not enough to make such a fuss!
I don't mind Samus having hobbies, but I don't care for them either. I don't wan't to watch her knitting in cutscenes, no matter how big my respect for people who know their creative skills is.
Blizzard was being stereotypical in their character designs? Who has ever heard of such a thing?
Seriously though, we like Blizzard because of their solid gameplays and sharp use of clichés and tropes, not their originality. Could the pose toned back a notch? Maybe. Controversy worthy? No.
Oh, i got your point. You can't have a sexy pose when YOU'RE WEARING A TIGH COLTH HOW BY THE WAY, MAKE YOUR BUTT RELEVANT.
No seriusly, what's the matter? If it's not Tracer, it's Windowmaker. Or Mercy, Mei, Symmetra.Damn dud, chillax. Everyone have a sex symbol. Mine for example, is Zarya.
