The fact that Overwatch is actually good also means that at least initially, it will be overrated as hell since anything even remotely above average in this day and age gets its own personal Tumblr fandom. Still, if they give Overwatch the competitive support Valve never gave TF2, it'll be massive.
@Raxyz: That too. Spending real money on a stupid key only to get a completely useless piece of shit is infuriating. If I want any specific items, I'd have better luck playing for months, then scrapping the drops for materials. Of course that still leaves unusuals and decorative outfits...
Overwatch will be more successful than TF2 ever was, by sheer virtue of the times we live in. The gaming audience is much, MUCH larger today than it was when TF2 was in it's hayday. Hell, if Blizzard actually supports Overwatch properly on consoles, that alone will put it well ahead of TF2's peak.
I am an bit surprised that the third panel isn't Tracer and Widowmaker making out. I am sure I want to see that. I guess since I am not in the beta I will never know
@Crass Spektakel: Overwatch is 40 bucks despite it really seeming like it'd be F2P, because they didn't want people to not have access to all the heroes.
@MangoMaster4: I disagree that Overwatch is too dumb and simple compared to TF2. Without the Workshop, TF2 would have died a long time ago. Also, EA is the company that is the worst when it comes to screwing people over. They've shut down most studios they acquire and constantly mandate stupid ideas
@MangoMaster4: I second that. Valve isn't at the top of their game indeed, but Blizzard can be worse. I don't think Overwatch will be more sucessful that TF2 was, but given how TF2 is old as hell and Valve isn't that worried about updating it as it once was, it just might be the new thing.
@Elyseon: I always thought crates should be eligible for dismantling. Otherwise those are just infurating shitdrop. Even if you DO get keys, the stuff you get from it it's mostly crap.
I'm sick of TF2 mostly because of its damn crate system. A random drop should be something you smile about, not something that makes you cringe and go "Great, more wasted inventory space until I cough up money for a key!".
@Mr. Al: However much you think Valve is screwing players over, Blizzard is renowned for being the worst company of them all when it comes to screwing people over.
That said, Overwatch is fine, but like all Blizzard games, it's too dumb and simple to be fun for long.
I decided to try getting back into TF2 a bit by buying into the contracts.
I didn't know that I was paying for the ability to do missions that get me crates I need to pay for. I thought every mission have weapon skins. Only maybe 1/3 of the missions didnt just give fucking crates. Game was fun tho
Do they have mouths? Or do they have feeding tubes so they don't need to remove their mask?
The world may never know. Or want to know.

The issue with TF2 isn't it's vintage, it's how valve treats it. Forced microtransactions for every "free" content update, when there really is no new content at all. This is plain insulting to TF2's long history as the King of free fps content updates.
