I'm pretty sure we all realize that the main reason they remastered Skyrim is to keep attention focused on the Elder Scrolls series and create hype for ES6 (whatever/whenever it will be)
The remaster will actually enrich the modding community, because the new engine is 64-bit. This means much more complex mods are possible, without destabilizing the game.
The only reason Skyrim got a remaster is so it wouldn't go onto the BC (which if I recall it was a high up contender for it)... Kind of annoying actually.
@HolyDanna: I read a couple of refutals by the Nordic people telling that they never heard of such a slang and that they generally treat their wives with more respect than that.
As far as I know that's just a funny line a writer came up with.
I only played it because I got it for free. :P But if I ever get back into modding, I'll play the old one so I can mod until everything is updated and some stuff I use the modder is done with.
Really, the biggest plus of Skyrim SE is the 64bit stuff, but sadly a lot of the players probably won't see much of it beyond the added stability when they're playing with the REALLY crazy mod sheanigans.
IIRC, the original reason was because it was a test build for the devs, but eventually they decided they didn't have enuff dosh- er, to release it to the public.
Meanwhile, jus do what half the peeps are doing and wait for mods to get ported over. Much of the basics should be done by December...
Magic is fun with mods, but sadly it dies as most useful spells end up being supportive to enhance your warrior. It's cheating to add a bit of magic or a new radio song to your game but not cheating to make an enchanted armor that can one hit kill all foes with a rusty shiv in one handed attacks.
The real problems with the update are three details.
1st is the 'update' wasn't as big as we wanted. I was expecting fallout 4 detail... not enhanced lighting.
2nd is mods block achievements which can be very irritating.
3rd re-updating mods to it and original has achievements and old mods.
Isn't "taking an arrow to the knee" Nordic slang for saying "getting married" ?
Also, is there anything to do to enable the new HD pack, other than activating the DLC in the launcher ?
The problem with doing an HD Morrowind or Oblivion is that their gameplay really doesn't age well. Skyrim is also still played, so making a next-gen version with console mods is bound to get bought.
