I read through countless reviews at release and tons of people were upset to see a massive amount of content had been removed.
Theres no excuse for any of the crap that evolved around that game.
like complete assholes. I got banned from the forums asking if the game had actually made some improvement. was I a little crass, sure, but I was legitimately trying to get some answers and because I wasn't praising it as the greatest game of all time I was chited and banned when i wanted answers.
@Boomfly: that is massively debatable. Maybe the game has some redeemable qualities but between the toxicity and delusionalness amongst the community I won't touch it. CF made millions and still took five plus years to finish a basic 2D, mocked anyone who didnt agree it was perfect, and acted
@Nose Rin - Except Starbound was awesome once it actually came out? The only thing really missing was randomized monsters, which wasn't a big deal (At least to me). The thing did all Terraria did and all No Man's Sky wanted to do.
If it's made by starbound then it's sure to be a failure. I'd say wait five years and maybe it might come out of early access but probably not with their track record. also expect to see lots of features removed at launch.
Hats, Oh my. I remember an episode of Red Dwarf where they talked about the race that evolved from the Cats. How they had a religious war over the hats and if the color was going to be red or blue.
Seems they where wrong, tuners out the hats where going to be green.
@Jose Vemon: Always good to see a dev interacting with the community. The attack scenes look good, overworld not as much. I do like that it's very "readable" and I hope that aspect is kept. CO art isn't awful IMO but the portrait on the overworld looks much worse than the conversation between COs.
Out of the three Macro Tactics and Tiny Metal are the most interesting to me right now. I really prefer the more modern military setting for that style of game.
@Boomfly: Well, if you don't count our two artists then yeah, it's just me. Thanks for the feedback - while we are currently fixing up the overworld, I was not aware that the portraits were perceived as this particularly bad. We'll look into that (to be honest they did seem fine to me lol).
@Jose Venom - so it's not just you after all? I was surprised when I saw only one dude on the dev list. Sprites are fine, the tiles are meh and the CO art is rather bad. It has neither a unique style nor high quality. As long as you make CO's prominent and factions look different, you'll do fine.
But it's too late now and there's no turning back. I only hope we can get back on our feet after showing newer footage. Curiously we did receive 500+ votes in our first days, which is odd considering the overall backlash. Thank you for the mention in this website by the way.
I'm the Macro Tactics developer. I must say that I made a terrible mistake showing the early footage, as it is nowhere close to the final product. 100% of the overworld tiles/sprites will be replaced, there will be something akin to CO powers, and the avatars will have expressions etc.
They all look unpolished to me. I'm surprised how the expressions on avatars don't react to damage dealt. Also I haven't seen any CO powers in use on any trailers, which is a core mechanic of advance wars that made the whole game dynamic.

It is like... more modern Advance Wars but a little bit simpler. Also Moe.
