It's almost MIND BLOWING - how they managed to actually do a WORSE job than Battlefront 1... I mean, seriously, how do you do that? The massive over-charging and lack of content of Battlefront 1 was legendary - but to go the extra mile with massive over-charging AND micro-transaction. Just... wow
@Frost: I was completely fine with the concept of DLC characters; Nintendo did it for Sm4sh with no issue. The cost is a different beast entirely. Either way, DLC characters wasn't worthy of a tantrum of this magnitude. DLC plus credit freeze for F2P? THAT'S tantrum-worthy.
I boycotted EA so long ago, I don't even remember what the reason was for. And they always find a way to renew my hatred of them. Remember when they made Dungeon Keeper 3? They put Bullfrog's logo on the You Lose flag! Fuck EA with a halberd, sideways!
@Hinamil Greyworks: Their PVP mode is an attempt to cash in the BR market, I'm talking about the actual game. Even though is ironic the BR mode has a lot of quality of life improvements over the actual game that players complain since Fortnite came out :)
Really funny when you realize you pay full price for Battlefront 2, then if you want all characters without THOUSANDS of hours of grinding you're gonna pay $2,500 in unlocks, not counting all the cards that would be needed to upgrade your characters.
Meanwhile games like Fornite (the actual game not the BR mode) exist and no one gives a shit. If EA weren't amateurs with freemium stuff they would just do like Epic did, say its going to be f2p but plaster an "Early Access" disclaimer anywhere and justify the $40 price. Literal mobile PC game.
"Will be available again at a later date". EA has already as much confirmed with their double speak that they'll be re-adding the lootcrates back in. So anyone that was on the fence because of the lootcrates to start with, continue to cast a weary eye.
@TheMiscGamer: You were completely fine with EA's initial plan of 40 hours of grinding per hero? You need to get some standards. I'd expect EA's original plan to be part of a F2P game, not a $60 title.
EA is disabling the microtransactions for now since some EU countries are looking into lootboxes as gambling. I'm sure they'll be back in a few months once the heat is off.
Being completely honest, a number of people (including myself) had no issue with it until someone revealed that there was a credit cooldown that prevented grinding. Someone described it really well to me as the "gaming community's daily temper tantrum", except this time it came out justified. Sorta.
It can't be dead yet, EA is still trying to sell it, and some governments are considering classifying Battlefront II (and Overwatch) as proper gambling because of how bad EA screwed up.
To be honest... at this point the "Late to this Dead Horse" joke is a dead horse joke itself.
I mean I/We already knew the (same) jokes (as last time EA f'ed up) were going to burn out in a matter of days.
So how about... Okami HD coming to PC? (finally I can try it!) Any thoughts?
