Jo you are just looking at this from the wrong point of view. These are the guys who made FTL. There is no "best build" the whole point is making the best out of a bad situation. FTL becomes boring if you get twin vulcan canons the enjoyment comes from winning from a position that is weaker.
@Jeffrey Gassenheimer: You have the hook tank for that, since it's armored you can usually use it to sit in between the enemy and a building and be part of the chain, but also hook enemies into range.
Rusting hulks generally have a weak start but later covering the entire map in smoke is trivial.
I really like Blitz. They can just wipe the board in a single hit. But if you run into an enemy with more than 3 health, then there's really nothing you can do to it to stop it from wrecking you for a turn...
Rusting Hulks was weird to work with and hard to get up, but it was really fun to use.
Fellas? Unless I'm horribly mistaken somehow, Lightning Whip can never damage your own buildings. It just stops at the buildings if you don't have the upgrade, instead of using them to continue the chain.
Ah, so you're one of those people...
Welp, for me Judoka is THE best squad, Period. Rusting hulks being close second (and they DO NOT require that pilot by any means).
Blitz is just... Bad. It requires 2 cores for the whip to be USABLE (without destroying your entire grid in one hit)
Honestly while Blitzkreig is good at overall DPM, the RST is just amazing for area denial. All the smoke basically means you can prevent enemies from firing on buildings, which makes winning games a ton easier.
Yep, Smoke bois made the game hella easy, 4 damage a turn and an AOE that neutralizes attacks. And the shock guys were pretty fun... for 2 missions, when i had to defend anything and couldn't because the zap would kill my objective.
Get rusties, up their damage from lightning storm ASAP and mayhaps buy some more smokes if available. They were much easier than walkers, or more versatile than blitz (try playing any protect the X mission with blitz without throwing your keyboard out of the window)
Been playing this game for 2 days now. and.. I have to agree with you. Zenith, Blitzkrieg and Rift walkers are easy to use. Hulks and flames are tricky and Judoka...
Yeah got first win with the Blitzkrieg, but with Rusting hulls I almost got perfect 4 islands win. By far Hazardous mechs are the shities one. But I didn't even touched Steel judoku.
I've liked every squad so far except Steel Judoka, which I had to basically rebuild from the ground up to get any use out of. That said, flame behemoths and rust hulks are my favorites so far because I like slowly converting the entire map into my personal domain and watching invaders die by inches.
Eh, so far, the team I really hate is the Flame Behemoths. Although it's neat to be immune to flame, it's a pain in the ass that all I can do for the most part is set the Vek on fire and push them around as I wait for their health to tick down by one point each turn.
I see you're talking shit about my favourite team! Entertainingly enough, I really don't like the Blitzkrieg. They've got a bad habit of murdering your very fragile allies on any map with them. I've had way too many cases where there isn't a way to save the trains without making them collateral.
