@Ellis Warner: um yes it is it also the cheapest outside of pauper if your looking at it from which one is covered the most competitively then yea maybe standard is bigger but that's because player are constantly having to buy cards meaning wiz of the coast, is gonna coverage it more than modern.
Haha, fine form Jo. I admire. I have no desire to try Arena, but Hearthstone's def losing my business to traditional MtG, which has cards I actually own and can sell. Hearthstone feels exploitative these days.
I've played paper Magic for years, and I'm never gonna play MTGO. I'm NOT gonna pay for digital cards when I can just buy paper ones. Arena though... THAT I'm interested in. I've probably put in at least five hours a week since it came out. F2P I'm ALL for. Even started testing my new Standard deck.
Modern isn't the most played format, dude. Its standard. Either that or draft. And Arena isn't trying to REPLACE MTGO, its supplementing it. MTGO will NEVER be free to play, and it's also based off old, clunky software. Arena is fun and draws in new people; the old players are ALREADY hooked.
@Paul Richeson: part 2 this does not mean it will have a true modern mode or that they will be adding the sets like Mirrodin darksteel or 5th dawn etc etc etc.
@Paul Richeson: Part 1 um no its not they have said nothing about adding modern or vintage. they have been very tight lipped on if they are gonna "reprint" the old sets. so far all that has been said is that when a new block comes out they are not gonna stop people from using their old cards
@Joren Nicholsen: It's still in Beta, man. Modern and Vintage are planned.... eventually. Getting all 15,000+ cards programmed in is going to take a while.
here's the problem arena is just a watered down MTGO with single player tacked on. it lacks the thing that makes MTG great which is all the different formats instead opting to rely solely on standard dropping the much stronger and loved modern. you know the most played format the staple of MTG
Jo, you sweet innocent child, you honestly thought that an F2P game cared about anything other than bilking you for the largest amount of money possible and actually gave a shit about the quality of their game? Man, you sure are optimistic.
A lot of streamers have been putting out sponsored videos of Mtg rather than just jumping ship. That said should at least put a little pressure on blizzard to stop them being complacent.
Also, since i'm poor because i waste my money on cardboard rectangles, Arena allows me to Draft at least twice a week if i want. Or even earn enough "money" to cash in limited formats. Which i usually it's a waste in paper.
Many decks are Cheap in rares in this new meta, Blue aggro is 4 rares.
@Andy Willow: Hearthstone is a pvp card game so in order to keep people interested they need to add more content to it. A single player game may be solid but its no nearly the same thing.
Another reason I prefer single player games. They don't need years of patches to keep people interested in playing them. A solid experience is gonna age well.
On a final note, you should not take into consideration what streamers opinions are. They are shills bought and payed for the highest bidder and thous their viewpoints are biased. Of course, they will go to check out a new game, new game keeps the kids with bankcards amused fresh for the bit cheers.
If the game has an OP deck, people will spam the fuck out of it and get bored of playing againts the same shit bitch on the forums get it nerfed, if there isn't a big OP deck they will complain like now that they can't get easy wins bitch on the forums to get buffs and new update.
I am happy with the current meta. Having a "playstyle" based on RNG is hoping for the best and calling it a strategy so I don't think they should cater to people like you Jo. Sadly, no matter what hearthstone will always have complainers who want to find excuses for why they are not hitting legend.
