Since Steam removed the ability to buy games and then keep them as gifts in your inventory i've been boycotting them. Such a greedy decision; they know exactly they don't have any real competition. Hopefully, a new contender will make the whole deal better. I have no obligations to steam.
Epic being able to give more money to indies is definitely going to make me buy it on their launcher, i also really like the minimalist view that it has. and having the mod editors at the bottom of the store page with how to guides to mod is VERY nice as well
I tried to install the launcher and the VERY FIRST THING it did, without asking me or anything, was to install Fortnite.. I immediately uninstalled after that one..
@Spencer from what I've heard their offering more of cut for game developers so I don't know why AAA games wouldn't choose them over steam, then again they may just choose to publish on both epic and steam
Let's be honest. Epic is trying to get more publicity and, at the same time, they are trying to create a rival to Steam is record time. That eagerness will most likely cost them, as they need more then Indie games. They need AAA games, or they will be dead in the water.
If the competition makes them nervous enough to bring back good Steam sales then I welcome a new entry. The past few years have been incredibly weak discounts for even older games.
Personally, if a game is available on both GOG.com and Steam I buy it on GOG nowadays. Steam is still my main though; and I only run the GOG, Origin (yuck EA dX) and Blizzard launchers when I need them to run one of the games in them.
I might do the same with Epic, who knows.
What's up with those "not leaving Steam" and "yet another launcher" comments all the time?
Those launchers aren't hurting anyone/'s PC.
Supporting a monopoly like that on the other hand does actually hurt the consumers (and developers in this case) in the long run.
