@Tero: Well, lore-wise it was all a super-secret project by Belisarius Cawl on the direct order of Girlyman before he was injured and put in stasis.
Cawl worked on it for 10 millennia, and it was ready to deploy when Girlyman woke up.
I think Cawl had time to create some stuff over the years...

Really have grav tech. I mean there were afew relics Samael's bike and custodes bikes few images of grav rhinos I think but they were clearly relics of the distant past. Now every chapter has them like nothing. Would have been better if they would have just scale creeped bigger models IMO. /Rant

8th edition 40k. Flight is most needed ability for a shooting model because it lets you escape melee and shoot in the same turn. And all the weapons can be shot when in older editions it was mostly three weapon max and you had fire arcs, those are also gone now. And before this imperium didnt.. (2)

Yeah the models are nicer but the lore is fucking bad. I think the repulsor tanks are the most clear identifyier on how the primaris line is made with profit first lore second. So repulsors have a few identifyiers. High amount of different guns and grav flight. These both things are perfect for..(1)

I'm not complaining, my Imperial Fists list is almost all Primaris marines. The only exception is the Centurion Devastators and the Techmarine gunner with the Thunderfire Cannon.

everyone is butthurt but new models made with better tech on everystep and with better proportions gonna replace old nasty stuff eventually: now you have some kind of excuse to keep your old fugly marines lorewise if you care.
New models <3 cant wait for orks.

For me who only read the novels, the Primaris are a (somewhat*) logical upgrade to the old marines, especially after Girlyman's awakening and the need to unfuck things (FFS, they had almost ten thousand years without ANY innovation)

*We're still talking about Warhammer 40k, so logic is optionnal

The dumb thing is, this is not the first time that we have had a major rescaling of the marines. I have a load of old 2nd edition marines and terminators and I felt it was silly the first time that they upgraded how big all the marines are and they didn't write a bunch of stupid lore to justify it.

I was so annoyed for so long by Primaris. But they do look nicer. And they feel a lot stronger, a lot more like SPACE MARINES than the old ones ever did. They just remade one of my favourite characters into a Primaris Version and it's one of the best looking marine models i've ever owned.

The look is fine. The needless destruction of old lore is not good. They could have easily made these new marine models just new versions but kept old lore. Instead they totally shit on the old marines lore to make Primaris look good. I will never buy a GW marine or marine like faction again.

But they're hardly the first "Space Marines But Better" and probably only exist so Games Workshop can have a Space Marine they can Trademark. And their Lore is an abomination of retcons as well

No, you're right. The model sizes have crept up over time and the Primaris do look proportionally better.

I'm just sad you used the new helmet designs on the old guys instead of that classic angry face design. Mk8 helms is in a realm between iconic and hilarious.

Lorewise Manlet marines can cross the Rubicon Primaris to become Chad Marines, granted the Techpriests say there’s a 61% chance of failure until they perfect it because they still need to work out the kinks.
