Dude, i even gave you a source. Just stop with your shilling

@AndyWillow
Also social media where hippies would spread quack science that won’t be scrutinized because “it’s not said Saturday Morning Villain”, “Both sides are bad” dichotomists who just say it to feel better but actually ignorant, and 4chan.

@Timothy Du
(2/2) Of course outside China, we (the people) don't have much to fear Corona virus as long we DON'T panic & take measures to avoid its spreading. Since only very old/newborns are the ones in danger if infected, or those with chronic diseases.
Plz just stop using CNN as a valid source

@Timothy Du
Plz stop shilling.
The Corona virus has taken around +250k infected ONLY on China, and supposed real Death Count is around +25k.
Why? CCCP
This virus just demostrated (again) to the world that Communism never works. (1/2)

Corona-chan is a virus that works similar to HIV, it targets your inmuno cells leaving the infected prone to die to MANY diseases. It can't kill by itself, so instead it open the gates for other virus to infect.
over 4 years ago
If too many people are in need of an hospital at the same time (I believe it's about 17% of the infected) you get a lot of people that can't get treated and die of pulmonary deficiencies. Death rate in Wuhan was 5,8% exactly because there were no structures to contain the first outbreak.
over 4 years ago
Second: mortality is pretty low in general, but it skyrockets once you get to the 60+ age bracket. 70+ have a 3-4% mortality rate, for 80 y.o. is over 6%. The main problem with this virus is that older people end up in intensive care wards and the hospitals quickly get saturated.
over 4 years ago
So... the matter is twofold. First: the virus is little worse of a common flu, but we lack the antibodies for this specific strain so our body needs to build them up from scratch.
over 4 years ago
I don't see how "Less lethal, but still lethal" shouldn't be a concern. Add that a good way to mutate a virus is to have as many hosts as possible that might encounter a host that will make it more lethal.
over 4 years ago
You just don't get itm it's like playing Plague Inc.
The virus is just starting to spread being mostly highly infectious (and being able to reinfect people[Japan])
Then in a few months when a sizeable portion of the world is infected - BAM! It mutates and everyone infected becomes a zombie.

"Remember all those other viruses?" Yes, and they all were taken seriously, that's why we didnt have epidemys. Just take Corona seriously, and it'll be gone in no time too.
over 4 years ago
We had competent people at the higher levels to deal with previous viruses. Now we have a Saturday morning cartoon villain running the show.

This is what happens when people forgot that smallpox once walked this earth, and was only stopped by vaccination.

i think this is actually a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hide reference

@Peter Sadlon
Well, consider that there was a war on during 1918 (at least the final chapter) and somewhat being war ravaged might not help much.
Like food and medicine shortages, running refugees, and hostility between European nations being the factors.

@Albert Johfur
Apart from the fact that we are overstocking as crazy though. Empty shells where you would normally find stuff with long expiration date and don't get me started on hand cleaners. Stuff is gone.

Also not really happy its spreading, considering the number of old relatives I've got.
over 4 years ago
SARS, MERS, the bird flu are examples of what happen when people play it smart and head agencies like the WHO & CDC. The Spanish Flu of 1918 is an example of what can happen if people act like idiots or there is no CDC.
over 4 years ago
The proper is answer is dangerous enough to be take seriously but not so dangerous that you should panic (panicking never helps anyway). If people take reasonable precautions things will get sorted out without it being too serious, but if people act like idiot it will make things worse.
over 4 years ago
Wait, people already believe it has "taken" Europe?
As a European, allow me a moment of minor LOL.
People are going about their daily business as normal up here.
over 4 years ago
As A South Korean, we are dealing with Corona quite efficiently. I will say most healthy people will be fine. But people with chronic disease, weaken immune system and weak and fragile, like children and old people, is in danger.
over 4 years ago
It's important to take it seriously, without having to freak the hell out. A panicked population does stupid things.

Some are going too far in one direction (it's all fake), while some are going too far in the other direction (it's going to kill us all). Hard to be reasonable on the internet.

@Xuncu Morton:
To top it off, i will find it funny if people rightfully criticizing Pence while also posting pseudo science on Corona Virus instead of credible scientific sources and causing “idiot vs. idiot” dichotomy i keep seeing.
Yeah, I (politicalily) hate everyone on social media.

@Xuncu Morton:
And for some reason Rubin (a gay man ironically enough) Tim Pooland Sharpiro seems to be oblivious about that and keep insisting that the Mainstream is irrational.
Then again what do you expect from “reporters” shilling for “Anti PC” (guillible and idiot variety) crowd..
over 4 years ago
it's around 60% infection rate, a 28 day incubation period where you can spread it even if you don't have any symptoms, and about 60-80% of infected have mild to moderate symptoms, 20-40% get severe issues needing intensive care, and at least 2% mortality rate so far.
over 4 years ago
And as for my fellow Americans: Mike "Pray The Gay Away" Pence is in charge of the response. His experience with outbreaks? An HIV outbreak in Indiana while he was goveneor went from a projected 10 infections... to *two hundred and fifteen,* because of his 'moral' objections to standard procedure.
over 4 years ago
What SHOULD get you, Jo and all other fans, to shit your pants over it: that new processor you wanted? Intel ain't making shit, even moreso than before the outbreak, so the entire PC industry is critically low on CPUs. HP won't be even able to make any new inventory for 3-6 MONTHS, I hear.

for weeks, even the $50 for a 10-pack sets. The only thing we go remaining are the reusable respirators that start at like $150 for the mask with visor (which I've been more tempted to get for the next time my fucking hills are on fire and I wanna play Go without getting ash in my eyes).
over 4 years ago
It's mortality rate is somewhere between 1.5% and 3%. The tricks is that it's quite contagious, so 1.5-3% is a lot of the hundreds of thousands of infected.

I work retail: we don't sell the masks, but we can order them for delivery. Our warehouses have been out for like 3-4 weeks,
over 4 years ago
Judging by numbers at the moment China is actually less dangerous than, say, South Korea or Iran regarding CoViD-19, so i doubt there is zombie apocalypsis there.
over 4 years ago
So.. the Corvid-19 is not that lethal to normal ppls. but someone who has weak lungs might be critical. and this new virus is actually very Highly contagious. so we might be okay even if we get Infected. but your heavy smoker friend or some old folks could die from it.

No Dr. Mario reference?
