If you're getting dental work done and you feel pain while they're working, let them know. They will be more than happy to give you more novocaine.
A good dentist wants to make your visit as comfortable and pain free as possible.
When I was a teen/young adult I didn't have very good dental habits nor dental insurance.
Now every tooth has filling/s and many teeth were ground down and capped.
I've spent so much time in a dentist's chair I almost fall asleep while there now.
But yeah. Take good care of your teeth. Sonicare, fluoride rinse, and I rinse my mouth with water after drinking cola. (The sugary aftertaste is bleck.)
This led to having 3 cavities being drilled out and replaced by the cool synthetic mold in a single sitting, when I haven't had a cavity my entire life. Now, my dentist told me, "Whatever you're doing, keep it up, you mouth is flawless." I changed NO habits, teeth can just go bad.
I had two teeth that were crammed so close together that flossing was unable to get everything out of them, and they started to rot in that one very tiny spot. AND a molar with a tiny open seam caused by the tooth itself improperly forming that led to the tooth rotting from the inside.
