Blizzard's development has been compromised to be Activision. It is too late for Blizzard to revive its past and become an innovator again. The vision is gone. At best, it will go back to releasing complete games instead of unfinished garbage.
As said: INDIES! When I started reading the second panel my instant reaction was "why would I care?" The only classic AAA games I really enjoyed in the last 5 years were the Tomb Raider reboot and DA:I, but Cross Code and Control are on the same level. (Though "Control" could be counted as AAA?)
For me this is just, "Oh. A company I don't play the games of has been bought by a console company I don't give a shit for. When's Breath of the Wild 2 coming out again...? How many PS5s are gonna be made in March...?"
On the one hand, its worrying that two MASSIVE companies are merging, limiting diversity in the market... On the other Acti-Blizz is basically the WORST company in the market from every perspective (crunch, sexual abuse, predatory microtransactions, est.) So... Fuck em, RIP.
It's a good day to play,
When you own a good game,
Gamers, we fight for what is right,
A noble sacrifice,
When hype calls, you pay the price,
For the Epic Valvebox I will give my wallet!
