@The_Pug I would say it is more a problem of predatory companies like Blizzard, AE, etc. When a company start going that route it is a sign to stay away from them. Continuing playing their games means they can keep going greedier and greedier.
It's an unfortunate side effect of gamers, particularly younger ones (read: fortnite kiddies) getting used to the idea that constant in-game purchases of increasingly horrid value are the norm. Companies don't have to generate good will via gifts and deals anymore, cuz people will pay.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I miss Overwatch lootboxes. They gave you a whole bunch just for playing the game, and if you got dupes, they were instantly sold back to them for in-game currency so you could go buy the things you ACTUALLY wanted. It'd take a few months of regular play, 1/2
OW jokes aside. r6 siege for the past couple of years has also reduced the amount of gifting too. and upped the prices of each season pack.
I used to pay 100 a year on average, now it's over 100 per season, and lucky if they give any event package.
@Samuel - At this point, I think of anyone who plays Blizzard games still as having a case of Stockholme Syndrome. They have somehow managed to convince themselves that their games are still good.
Wait, people are still playing Overwatch 2? After they knee capped the player base, canceled features, dropped the quality of game pla yand nuked the original game servers?
